How to preserve historic buildings in the modern generation now? Naim(c18a0131)

1) What the issues about?
Historic buildings of the present day are often marginalized by the present generation. They often look down on these buildings because for them to maintain these bad buildings is a waste of their time.
2) How does it happen?
This is because of the lack of consciousness in them. They are less exposed to the importance of preserving historic buildings as well as the importance of these historic buildings for the future.
3) What action is taken by any party?
The first party to care about this problem is the generation itself. This is because they need to be aware of the situation around them because the world or times will always be changing. the second party is the parents. Parents must play an important role for the current generation to make them aware of the importance of preserving this historic building. The last party is the government. This is because the government needs to conduct an awareness campaign on the importance of historic buildings to the country or to the current generation.
4) Any suggestion from your viewpoint?
In my opinion, every individual in this country should have a sense of responsibility to these historic objects because if every individual has a responsibility then we are able to care for or preserve the historic buildings that exist in our country.

Community efforts to protect boria offerings for future generations.- NORHAZWANI C18A0237

Boria's performance in Penang is one of the intangible legacies. Boria is a form of theatre and is very famous in the north of Malaysian peninsular, namely Penang. Boria's performance also has two parts, namely comedy which are the type acting such as jokes and singing. The Boria performance features an acting, singings and dances performed by the composers and members of the group which are beautifully arranged so as to evoke a feeling of love for the audience to continue watching this Boria performance. Now, Boria performances are less well exposed and received by the younger generations. This is because the influence of songs and performances by outside artists is more of a focus. Foreign culture is increasingly influencing the Malay community which have caused traditional Malay music, dances and theatre are increasingly marginalized and isolated. Modern popular culture is beginning to take the place of traditional performing arts. The best channel to cultivate interest and re-educate the public to appreciate and be proud of traditional performing arts traditions is through the education system. Among the efforts carried out by the National Culture and Arts Department (JKKN) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education Malaysia is to implement the Cultural Arts Guidance Program (PBSB). PBSB is a development and expansion activity at the grassroots level covering selected primary and secondary schools in all countries. Last but not least, my suggestion is that the performing arts that are currently available in Malaysia should also be given more focus and frequent exposure such as holding performing arts competitions between schools or state level competitions to raise the spirit of the community to learn more about cultural performing arts in Malaysia.

The issue is how to preserve Ulek Mayang dance. Ulek Mayang dance is a special and popular dance in Terengganu. It is a traditional state dance that has the ritualistic and spiritual elements. The dance depicts the story of the seven princesses, a shaman, a sick fisherman and other four fishermen.

According to Ulek Mayang case, the dance doesn’t have many performances and soon to be forgotten. In addition, this is happened because Ulek Mayang dance has a ritual and spiritual element and it was a contrary to the teachings of Islam.

But, after applies the transformation to the structure of Ulik Mayang's performance which is the removal of elements of worship and mantras, the formation of gimmicks, as well as the use of props, musical instruments, and more characteristic costumes modern. The factors of the development in Islam that have changed the pattern of society's life and making society very creative.

Then, the Ulek Mayang artist have a high creativity in adapting a traditional performance to a relevant Ulik Mayang performance as well as in line with the development of modernization. The transformation is sure the continuity of this cultural heritage for the gaze of the next generation. The new Ulek Mayang is suitable with the teaching of Islam.

In my opinion, to preserve the Ulek Mayang, we need to exposing this cultural heritage to the younger generation and presenting this dance to the community.

Kuda kepang performance art is an art that originates from the state of Johor. Originally this kuda kepang was known by various names such as jaran kepang because it was believed to be given by the Javanese and had popularity from its performances. In the past this art was very well known by the community. However, nowadays this performing art is fading in the eyes of young people. This is because this art is not introduced by the community now since childhood by their parents and many are introduced to modern performances such as artist concerts. As a result, authorities such as the Johor State Arts Department need to take action by holding a Johor arts program such as Kuda Kepang so that the community can recognize and follow the art. Therefore, in my opinion in order to maintain this art we need to be introduced from an early age through mass media such as newspaper clippings or television shows because at a young age teenagers are more influenced by the mass media. therefore, the art of this braided horse can be known and followed by today's society.

Kellie’s Castle House or Kellas House was built in 1905 by a prominent Scottish rubber farmer named William Kellie Smith. The three -storey building was built according to the design of a Moghul palace in the city of Agra, India. The builders of the building were specially brought from Madras.

William Kellie Smith is from a village in Scotland known as Kellas. In 1890, at the age of 20, Smith arrived before Malaya developed. In Malaya, he met a landowner named Alma Baker, who had won a concession from the state government to explore 360 hectares of forest in Perak. With large profits made from a joint venture ("venture business") with Alma Baker, Smith began planting rubber trees and venturing into the tin mining industry. During that time, he became the owner of Kinta Kellas Housing and Kinta Kellas Tin Dredging Company.

The building has 14 rooms, a basement and the secret tunnel is also equipped with the first elevator built in Malaya. On the second floor, a tennis court with a cement floor will be built.

News of the building was published in the London Financier newspaper on September 15, 1911. The newspaper said the Kellas House was the most distinctive building in the entire Far East, either in terms of shape or size.

The building was not completed after Kellie Smith died in the Port of Lisbon, Portugal to take the elevator booked on 11 December 1926. The building, which remains in a state of 'under construction', has become a visitor attraction to Batu Gajah because of its uniqueness.

In my opinion, this building needs to be well maintained, because this building is very unit in terms of construction. Although this building looks semi -finished but it should be well maintained.

The Uniqueness Of Kota Lama Duyong Building by Aida Mastura C18a0020

The uniqueness of the Kota Lama Duyong building which is located about seven kilometers from the City Center in Kuala Terengganu has attracted foreign tourists to visit the building or house because the Kota Lama Duyong has nine roofs that cover several parts connected to the kitchen, bathroom, sarong , verandas and bridges. Furthermore, the design is similar to the Small Palace of the Malay King but is further enriched by including elements of foreign architectural influences such as Corinthian or Egyptian, especially on the pillars and stone walls. However, this building (house) chooses the type of traditional Malay Terengganu house, namely Bujang Berepeleh, Lima Bungkus and Potong Belanda with torn carvings around the veranda. In addition, the material used to build the Old Mermaid City is brick, but most of it consists of honey and egg whites. Egg whites are used as a substitute for cement and they are used with sand, honey, pebbles and clay. Kota Lama Duyong also displays old artifacts such as copper and kitchen items that were once used. Next, there are also handicrafts and history about Kota Lama Duyong. In this house, religious classes were held and a place to study the Al-Quran in the past. Initially, the Kota Lama Duyong house was built in 1919 and completed in 1920 by Dato 'Biji Sura (Nik Muhammad Bin Hitam) who was a judge but was taken over by the Terengganu Museum and restoration was also done to preserve the heritage of the building. Therefore, in my opinion, historic buildings should be preserved as it is a hereditary heritage that should be passed on by future generations as every relic left in the past is able to leave a deep impression on future generations.

For the indigenous community in Negeri Sembilan, inter -tribal marriage is not encouraged because it is considered that inter -tribal marriage is a family that cannot be married.

The issue that exists is that if inter-tribal marriages take place, is that the men cannot hold any position in the customary department. Also, another issue is the division of property for divorced couples. The property that can go to the women is the customary inheritance property, while the matrimonial property will be divided according to the prescribed share.

In my opinion, the thing that couples need to do is identify their respective family backgrounds before getting married. The second opinion is, both parties need to be tolerant in the discussion of matrimonial property to get a final word and understanding and harmony.

Uniqueness Of Kutai House Architecture in Pasir Salak, Perak - NUR A'ADILAH BINTI ABU HANIFAH C18A0245

Rumah Kutai is a traditional house found in the state of Perak. The word "kutai" is mean "old" by the villagers. This Rumah Kutai has its own specialties and uniqueness. Rumah Kutai has 3 stair, where in the front, middle and back. Each stairs has its own function. The front staircase is used by men and guests who do not have a close relationship with the owner house, the staircase in the middle is used by women and family members such as relatives, while the staircase at the back is used by the owner house to go to the back of the house, toilet or others. Beside that, the Rumah Kutai also has a sparse floor so it is easy to clean the house and used as a waterway to bath the corpse. However, this Rumah Kutai is not as famous as the traditional houses found in other states, causing this house to become almost extinct from time to time. This is because Rumah Kutai has a small quantity and is only available in 3 districts in the state of Perak, in Perak Tengah, Hilir Perak, and Kuala Kangsar. Furthermore, this Rumah Kutai was built on the river route making this house difficult to find. The government only maintains a few Rumah Kutai in Perak, causing most of the other Rumah Kutai to be damaged without anyone taking care. The government should find special funds to preserve all the traditional houses in Malaysia so that the houses can be maintained in the long term. In addition, the government must preserve all the traditional houses that still exist today and not just a few houses. This is because all traditional houses that still exist today have their own values and history and should be preserved for the knowledge of future generations.

The Hajj house Heritage house is known as the relic house of the people. Where architecture of this house is a traditional Malay house. Nowadays, it is difficult to see the architecture of old traditional Malay houses. Therefore, this house was taken by the Terengganu Museum in 2012, after this house was left alone. Then, the Terengganu Museum has done conservation work for take care of the house. The Terengganu Museum made a decision to take this Hajj Su heritage house because the house has its own historical value and has an architectural uniqueness that is difficult to find these days. The uniqueness of this house can be seen in the whole house such as the use 100 percent Cengal wood, interesting carvings, as well as the use of singgora roof and also the design of the house itself. In 2016, the Museum reopened this Hajj Su heritage house as a tourist spot. So, the community can visit the house and see for yourself the uniqueness of house and also be able to see equipment that has been used by the Hajj Su in the past. In my opinion, this Hajj Su heritage house essential to be well preserved as it is a difficult heritage treasure to unto be seen in the present. In addition, various parties need to work together to promote this house to the community, so that they know about this house as well as be able to attract tourist to see the previous Malay house contraction.

Through the case studies I have chosen is how to preserve congkak for future generations. Among the issues to be discussed is about congkak which is a traditional game that is said to be less popular by the community in the current generation. This is said because, the current generation of society prefers to play gadgets such as smartphones, tablets and so on than they play the traditional game, especially congkak. This is due to the increasing production of advanced technologies such as tablets, smartphones and many more that are said to have obscured the eyes of the current generation, especially children. This is also due to the lack of exposure from parents about traditional play activities to children, especially congkak. Among the actions that need to be taken by certain parties are parents. Parents are one of the most dominant parties in the role of introducing and popularizing traditional games to the younger generation, especially their children. In addition, the school is also one of the parties that need to be involved to take action to reveal the importance of traditional games to students since school. For example, organizing traditional games as one of the co -curricular activities in schools. In my opinion, the parties involved should always hold a campaign to love traditional games such as congkak. This is because, this is one of the powerful methods to popularize traditional games in our country.

ADAPTIVE REUSE OF HERITAGE BUILDINGS AS A RESORT at Kuala Berang, Hulu Terengganu - NOORATIKAH ISMAIL C18A0206

Adaptive reuse is one of the methods in conservation. This re-adaptation practice is usually done on heritage buildings as well as residential houses that have historical value and this method is very effective in effort to continue to preserve many heritage buildings that were almost destroyed.

This study is related to the methods of preserving heritage buildings in Kampung Pauh, Hulu Terengganu. This heritage house was once inhabited by well -known and famous warriors who lived in Hulu Terengganu. This house is estimated to be over 150 years old. This complex has 7 traditional houses where all seven houses have been restored and re-used into a "resort" known as Warisan Pahlawan Resort. All the houses in this complex have their own architectural value and special features. Among the houses is from Mat Kilau's , Haji Abdul Rahman Limbong, Tok Gajah, Tok Pauh, Tok Kenali, Tok Ku Pulau Manis dan Tok Ku Paloh. In this Malay architectural design makes a lot of use of natural elements and is built based on the philosophy of thought of the Malay community.

However, using the adaptation method there are some problems such as loss of originality and setting(origin place). For example, the material used after being damaged is not the same as the original. This is meant as wood carving, wood type and even the quality of the old material is converted to modern. This is one of the challenges in maintaining originality in the conservation of heritage buildings. Next challenge is the house has not undergone many changes and another challenge is that it has not been gazetted even though the house is categorized as a historic heritage house and has value.

In conclusion, all parties need to take good care of this 150 -year -old house so that it is not abandoned. After it was completed, this heritage house was officiated by the Director of the Terengganu Ministry of Tourism and Culture Office, Mohd Sabri Zakaria. Apart from that, the agencies involved are Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), Bernama and Majalah 3. Next, the individuals involved are the owner of the resort house, Tun Abdullah.

I am very satisfied with the method of re -adaptation of this residential house to a tourist center because it can be maintained by maintaining the identity of the house without changing its original value. My suggestion is hopefully this house will be registered under heritage house in accordance with the Akta Warisan Kebangsaan 2005 (Act 645).

Based on the title I chose which is how to preserve ‘kapak binjai manis’. Kapak Binjai Manis is a small ax about an inch in size that is specially created to be hidden in the palm of the hand, with its main use being as a throwing weapon. This ax is also known as the Siamese ax. This ax is also often used and is an attraction for the people of Kelantan to use in their lives. It is also called the pack ax or flying ax because it refers to the way the ax is used while attacking. This ax is suitable for use by women to protect their safety. This sweet binjai ax has received less response since the emergence of the use of keris in community life because there is no documentation related to its use in the past. This is also because, some people consider this sweet binjai ax as a weapon that can be dangerous because of its small size and sharp. However, some parties have taken good initiatives in maintaining and increasing the use of the ‘Kapak Binjai Manis’, that is, they continue to use the ax and it has received widespread response on social media. This ax is also used by members of the martial arts in Malaysia. Therefore, in my opinion, this sweet binjai ax should be maintained and used always in life. This is because it can make this sweet binjai ax an unforgettable heritage and can attract the interest of many parties.

Kota Siputeh is a safe and prosperous city located in Kedah at one time. A Kedah ruler, Sultan Sulaiman I ibni Almarhum Sultan Ibrahim, was very fond of peace. He always encouraged his people to cultivate and raise livestock. He was married to a princess named Puteri Siputeh. Puteri Siputih is a very wise person. With the wisdom and efforts of Puteri Siputeh, the state of Kedah became rich and prosperous. He was also awarded two beautiful and well -mannered princesses. Yet one of them is said to be white -blooded. His Majesty was very much in love with the white-blooded princess, especially since her appearance was unmatched at that time. The peace of the state of Kedah ruled by Sultan Sulaiman in Siputeh and the news of his princess was known to the King of Acheh and came to jealousy in his heart. The King of Acheh sent an engagement party with full honor and was greeted by Sultan Sulaiman with full glory. However, because of his love for his white -blooded daughter, he finally married his daughter who was familiar with the prince of the King of Acheh. One day, when the newly married princess was biting a betel nut, she accidentally bit her finger and bled. The blood that came out was red instead of white as boasted. This angered the King of Acheh and he decided to wage war. Eventually many reliable commanders were killed and seriously wounded. The Sultan and Puteri Siputeh were arrested and sentenced to death. However, no one found the white-blooded princess because it was said that the princess was buried alive by the king so that she would not be found by the King of Acheh.

Based on this story, many people are unaware of it because there is no action from those responsible for preserving this historic story.

Tamadak dance is a traditional dance for Dusun Bonggi tribe. This traditional dance only famous among the tribes in Banggi Island, Sabah. Over the time, this tradition is increasingly forgotten due to the changes of time and lack of knowledge about this dance. How to maintain and introduce this traditional dance to the society? SMK Banggi dance association has performed this dance in dance competition in Sabah. In this way will be able to introduce this traditional dance to the outside community. To ensure that this dance will be maintain in Sabah, those who are more expert on this dance need to produced new apprentices. In addition, the community of the Dusun Bonggi tribe must also continue to maintain their traditional dances without forgetting the origins of the dance. Last but not least, the cultural side also needs to play a role in ensuring that this traditional dance is upheld as a national heritage.

Kuntau is one of the very famous martial art in Sarawak. The Dayak Iban were once known for their Kuntau. This martial art passed down by their ancestors and practised from generation and generation.

Today, Kuntau were not popular among the present generation because of the modernization. Kuntau is synonym to 'Ngajat' dance but Kuntau mostly used in field while 'Ngajat' usually in the stage.

A long time ago, Ibanese were known as a headhunter ,so Kuntau is one of the self defense for Ibanese to protect themselves from any danger at that time. Kuntau is just like the same other martial arts such as taekwondo, Muay Thai and Silat where they learn this martial art stage by stage in order to master it. Meanwhile, Kuntau only represent in Gawai festival only.

Now, Kuntau is not popular among the young generation. One of the reason why it is not popular among young generation because there is no suitable place and no avalaible teacher that known as 'Guro Kuntau' to teach them. That's why they prefer E-sport such as Mobile Legends, Pubg and Free Fire more than Kuntau.

In conclusion, I hope that non-goverment Iban agency to focus on promoting Kuntau among young generation so that it can be preserved to the next generation. I believe that Kuntau can be raised if all the Dayak's people especially Ibanese unite together.

"Main teri" is associated with the element of wind raised by "tok teri" or in the language of "main teri" is referred to as "isih”. "Main teri" is less played at this time because jinn are considered as intermediaries in the medicine "play anchovies".

"Main teri" faces the challenge of banning because the elements of reciting mantras are very much contrary to Islamic beliefs. The future of "main teri" is coming to an end because almost no young generation is interested in continuing this tradition. The ornaments in a temple or clanhouse was a coloured drawing. The coloured drawing founded on wall and wooden structure in that house. The function of the coloured is for protection to the wood. Leong San Tong is not only outstanding in structure but it also has an elegance form. Now, the George Town tourisn authority turned the Khoo Kongsi temple into museum and preserve that building.
How to maintain uniqueness culture of Baba & Nyonya in Malaysia By Che Norathirah Auni bt Che Hashim C18A0049

The issue to be raised is how to maintain the uniqueness of Baba and Nyonya culture in Malaysia. Baba and Nyonya are a Malay-Chinese hybrid community that practises mixed Malay-Chinese customs and culture. The Peranakan community of Baba and Nyonya have very unique customs and culture as a result of the legacy of their ancestors. However, the passage of time has changed the mindset of the community itself, especially the young. They are supposed to be the heirs who continue the customs and culture of Baba Nyonya, but they prefer to follow the flow of time. This has caused the culture of Baba Nyonya to become extinct and the younger generation does not care about the uniqueness of this culture. The factor that drives the extinction of Baba Nyonya culture is the attitude of the younger generation in the Chinese Peranakan community is more influenced by western culture or kpop. This is because they consider the culture of their ancestors to be archaic and vulgar and difficult to practice. In addition, parents play less of a role in practising their children to practise the true culture of the Baba Nyonya community. In fact, there are complaints from the Baba and Nyonya community who say that there is no special classification or recognition to prove that they are Baba Nyonya. In ensuring the uniqueness of Baba and Nyonya's culture is known by the community, there are several programmes that have been done by those in charge. Among the efforts made is through the Baba Nyonya Cultural Week Program at the Melaka State Level (2019), to promote the Baba Nyonya race in Melaka in collaboration with the Melaka State Unity Department. Various fillers throughout the program, such as demonstrations of Baba Nyonya cuisine, beaded cassock sewing, Chinese lantern making, traditional clothing, etc. To maintain the uniqueness of Baba Nyonya culture, responsible parties such as government bodies and cooperation with the Melaka State Unity Department to hold the Baba Nyonya Festival outside the state of Melaka. This is because to ensure that the community out there can experience the uniqueness of Baba Nyonya's culture. In addition, the mass media must also play a role in broadcasting documentaries about the Baba Nyonya race throughout Malaysia.

Warisan Pahlawan Resort is an original Malay residential architecture with wooden walls and thatched roof. This historic building located at Kuala Berang, Terengganu. The resort has the concept of Malay heritage architecture and heroism in each house built with a different and unique design. This architecturally attractive accommodation building was built inspired by the architecture of the Terengganu palace in the era of Sultan Mansor Shah II. This accommodation has 7 traditional Terengganu houses with unique architecture and still maintains the traditional house construction that is over 150 years old. These houses have also been named in conjunction with the names of Malay warriors who fought against the British colonialists in the past, among them as example are Tok Gajah and Tok Pauh. Building conservation has been done extensively throughout the country including Malaysia. The owner of this building has done a conservation process on the building of the house by reusing it as a resort by moving the house from a different site of origin.
This type of buildings has been forgotten and less interesting to the current generation who are more interested in modern construction. All parties must be responsible in protecting historic buildings to ensure that ensure the heritage sites or buildings are preserved and maintained.

how to conserve the heritage site of Bukit Puteri Kuala Terengganu By Nurul Nabilah Binti Shafee C18A0361

1. WHAT IS THE ISSUE ABOUT?

Bukit Puteri is a heritage site in the state of Terengganu which is also known as a stronghold during the Malay Sultan of Terengganu in the 18th and 19th centuries. there are various relics of historical artifacts left in Bukit Puteri. In addition, the issue to be discussed in this topic is the way to conserve Bukit Puteri in Kuala Terengganu with the remnants of historical items in Bukit Puteri and Bukit Puteri area.

Next, there are various relics of historical artifacts on the hill of the princess such as giant bells, cannons, flagpoles, storage of rifle bullets, fortifications and the sultan's throne. The relics of these items can prove that Bukit Puteri has a history and needs to be preserved for future generations to know the history of the state of Terengganu.

Lastly, the issues that can be discussed in this title are how to preserve the bukit puteri heritage site from extinction swallowed by the currents of modernity and the steps taken to conserve this bukit puteri heritage site. Therefore, be able to know the history that took place in Bukit Puteri and the relics of historical artifacts in Bukit Puteri area.

2. HOW DOES IT HAPPEN ?

The heritage site of Bukit Puteri is also an area of rapid trade activities during the reign of Sultan Zainal Abidin Shah in 1708. Among the foreign traders who came to Bukit Puteri were China, Arabia, India and Siam. In addition, the currency used is coins which are also known as coin mussels for trading transactions. This can prove that the heritage site of Bukit Puteri is one of the aspects of local economic development. Apart from that, at the site of Bukit Puteri, there was also a civil war due to the fight for the administrative throne which caused conflict and war in the Bukit Puteri area. Subsequently, Raja Mansur built a fort behind the hill and Tengku Umar formed his fort on Bukit Puteri which in the end, Tengku Umar lost the war and was expelled from the Terengganu government. Therefore, these defensive fortifications were built with adequate equipment and security to monitor and maintain security from the enemy.

Finally, as a result of the war, various historical artifacts have been found on the top of Bukit Puteri and can be evidence that Bukit Puteri was once used as an old fort during the Malay Sultanate of Terengganu in the 18th and 19th centuries. This evidence can explain to us what has happened in the Bukit Puteri area in the past during the reign of Sultan Zainal Abidin I.

3. ANY ACTION TAKEN BY ANY PARTIES?

GOVERNMENT

The government has taken an initiative that is the restoration of this princess hill from extinction or destruction just like that in this age of modernity. Among the conservation methods that have been carried out by the government is to repair the damaged fort and set the artifact equipment in a suitable area for easy access. In addition, the government also made the bukit puteri heritage site as a tourist spot that is open for people to come to bukit puteri to see the beauty and relics of artifacts in this bukit puteri area. This can increase the country's economy and income in the field of tourism.

SOCIETY

The community also contributes energy and protects each other from the Bukit Puteri area from being polluted with useless things such as gambling activities, liquor parties and damage to the Bukit Puteri area. Among the activities that are often carried out to take care of the Bukit Puteri area are gotong royong, keeping the area safe and monitoring the movement of outsiders coming to this area.

4. ANY SUGGESTIONS FROM YOUR VIEWPOINT?

My suggestion is that this heritage site can be used as a tourist spot for foreigners and locals to get to know the historical places in the state of Terengganu. In addition, it can also be used as an exhibition center for students from secondary or primary schools to visit historical places to learn a little about the history of this place. Further, it can be used as a research study center for foreign and domestic researchers to study this area and make a thesis on the heritage site of Bukit Puteri. Therefore, this proposal can maintain the stability and preservation of historical items found at the site of Bukit Puteri for future generations.

Out there, there are many heritage buildings that have either been gazetted or are still in the process of being gazetted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) including Malaysia. The issues that has been choose is about the problem faced by heritage buildings in Malaysia. This issue has been discussed, so that this problem can be resolved in the future. As a country rich in cultural heritage, including heritage buildings, Malaysia should get more recognition from world organization to gazette historic buildings as world heritage. The other problem is, lack of public effort in efforts to preserve historic buildings, lack of funds, historic buildings are not maintained and not well preserved, historic buildings were demolished for development purposes and the damage problem that plagues most of the historic buildings themselves is due to age and obsolescence factors. However, there are ways that can overcome this problem, like maintain these historic buildings, even if the place has commercial value for development. The government in Malaysia should also play a role such as, the ministry of tourism should include more historic buildings in tourism packages to be promoted to international tourists as well as the ministry of information communication and culture, need to maintain the structure of historic buildings so that the uniqueness of its architecture can be maintained

How does it happen?

There are some issues why Perak Raja Muda Palace should be closed. Among them is the historic building is uninhabited and has been left behind. Historical buildings should be defended as a national heritage to be extinct and damaged as no one manages it. Like the Perak Muda Palace Building, the building has been abandoned and left just so much that almost the entire building was overgrown by the green tree around and on the building. In addition, the Perak Muda Raja Palace Building also looks very obsolutable and contaminated as a result of uninhabited and unattended.

3. Any action taken by any parties?

The action taken to prevent the authorities to sell the Perak Raja Muda Palace was, there was a conference done by the Perak President, Datuk Saarani Mohamad, which was made at a press conference after the EXCO meeting at the Perak Darul Ridzuan Building in mid-September 2021. According to NSTP BH Online, Muhammad Zulsyamini According to him, the Perak President said that the site's sales process will be postponed to enable a more detailed study to be carried out after taking into account some views from several parties. According to that, the government will consider the process of selling the site of the young Raja Palace building and highly respected the views made by the public.

4. Any suggestions from your viewpoint?

There are several suggestions that can be done to re-establish the heritage building. Among them are the authorities such as the National Heritage Department to say about the importance of legacy buildings to countries, especially in terms of economics, social and political. The community should also be aware of the country's heritage cultural products to be preserved and become the focus of tourists as well as to future generations. Hence, all parties should also enhance the important role in preserving and conserving the heritage building so that it is not marginalized and becomes obsolete building. In addition, the heritage building should also be maintained as well as in terms of external and internal structure of the building so that the heritage building remains in its original form. In conclusion, by maintaining and conserving the National Heritage Building, the buildings can be maintained to the next generation.

1. What is the issue about?

Through the heritage building, the Istana Batu Royal Museum, there are several issues that cause this heritage building to receive less attention from tourists and locals. This is because the museum is said to be located in a city surrounded by large buildings such as administrative buildings and so on. As a result, the building received less public attention and visits. In addition, the building also looks less attractive due to the color of the building that has faded and dull.

2. How does it happen?

The issue discussed was due to the lack of attention the authorities in the district. The public and tourists are less interested in visiting the museum because the building is located among other historic buildings. Due to this, the public and tourists rarely visit the building. Moreover, this museum was originally used as the residence of kings.

3. Any action taken by any parties?

The museum became a historic building when the family of Sultan Yahya Petra gave permission to turn the building into a royal museum. Later, the royal museum was inaugurated by Sultan Ismail Petra Ibni Almarhum Sultan Yahya Petra on July 25, 1991. Today, in this museum there are many exhibitions on the history of the Kelantan Sultanate such as writings, photographs, formal attire, gifts and others.

4. Any suggestion from your view point?

There are some suggestions that need to be made to preserve this building. Among others, the authorities need to introduce this historic building to the local community and tourists who visit the museum. Next, historic buildings also need to have special care so that the building is always preserved in terms of the original structure and design of the building. In conclusion, all parties need to play an important role in ensuring that this royal museum continues to be preserved for the visits of tourists and future generations.

How to Preserve Makam Laksamana Bentan in Kota Tinggi Johor by Nur Izzati Najwa Binti Alpian (C18A0299)

What is the issue about?

The issue I would like to discuss is the Tomb of Laksamana Bentan was found not to be well cared and maintained. The tomb of Laksamana Bentan in Kota Tinggi is located next to the Johor riverbanks and 50 meters away. This is because the river flow area which is located next to Laksamana Bentan's Tomb has a drainage system that cannot withstand a large amount of water suddenly. The rapid development in the city of Kota Tinggi is one of the factors causing the riverbanks to become shallow and unable to flow well.

How does it happen?

In the history of floods that have occurred several times in Kampung Kelantan, the Tomb of Laksamana Bentan has never been flooded due to its slightly elevated position despite being by the river. However, in the second flood that occurred in early January this year (2007), the tomb was drowned in water to the level of the iron pillars that surround the tomb. It was submerged for almost 2 weeks. Before big flood hit, the tomb was surrounded by several houses of the communities and was always visited by tourists. There are several house carried flowing by floods. Only the Tomb of Laksamana Bentan still remains and has been made as historical site for tourists to visit. Recently, in January 2021 the riverbanks overflowed again during floods. The tomb was began to be flooded and be affected again.

Any action taken by any parties?

To efforts to preserve the tomb were carried out with immediately to safeguard this valuable historical treasure. All the repair efforts were carried out by the villagers who live near the tomb and were assisted by Tok Ketua district Kota Tinggi and other government departments. After a few days after cleaning and repair efforts, the tomb returned to its original condition. Initially, after the clean-up activities were carried out, tourists visited the tomb for fear of repeated flooding. However, during the pandemic, the parties concerned began to build wall that can reduced the river overflow from the tombs.

Any suggestions from your viewpoint?

Laksamana Bentan's tomb needs to be preserved as it is a historical proof popular with local tourists as well as tourists abroad. The story of this tomb was once documentary and has been re-acted history related to the events of Sultan Mahmud Mangkat Dijulang in August, 1699.

HOW TO PRESERVE MASJID BEIJING
Beijing Mosque is a very unique mosque because it combines Chinese and Islamic architecture and resembles the Niujie Mosque which is more than 1000 years old in Beijing, China. The construction of a mosque with Chinese architecture aims to break the wall of stereotypes that exist in the minds of non -Muslims that Islam is Malay and Malay is Islam. then those who embrace Islam will be considered to have entered Malay. with the presence of this Chinese-built mosque can at least show them that Islam is universal, belonging to all races. china had accepted islam much earlier than malaysia, about 1300 years ago. In addition, it is based on monitoring the local population where in Rantau Panjang, the population consists of Malays and Chinese. In fact, Rantau Panjang is also a tourist attraction. the government has also allocated a special budget to preserve the beijing mosque in order to maintain the original framework and the concept of building the beijing mosque can be inherited to future generations. In fact, this beijing mosque is also the attention of outsiders to visit not only because of its unique construction but the government provides funds to provide various facilities in it such as on the upper floor is a prayer room and and on the ground floor for public facilities such as multi -purpose hall, dining hall, clinics and libraries. in my opinion, another way to preserve this beijing mosque is to make a documentary related to beijing mosque. for example, production companies are encouraged to make special documentaries related to this unique design along with the history behind the existence of the mosque. indirectly, many will get to know this mosque and it can add info to the public related to cultural heritage.

Wayang Kulit is one of the traditional Malay culture that has been recognized as intangible cultural heritage by Unesco. Wayang Kulit is slowly disappearing simply because of the younger generations not interest to learn and practice about Wayang Kulit. Some efforts in digitalizing this Wayang Kulit, include development of a rendering framework and interactive multimedia presentation and it also supported by the parallel development of cinema, television and others media.

Name: Norafarrahim Binti Rahim
Matric Number: C18A0228
Title: How to preserve Dungun Museum
The Dungun Museum was built in 1941. The museum displays many artifacts taken from the wreck of the Wanli ship that were found off Tanjung Jara Beach in 1997. In addition, the place where Wanli's ship sank has been identified through reports by local fishermen who found many ceramic jars stuck in their nets. The results of the study found that the ship carrying these artifacts originated from Jingdezhen, China and was used during the Ming Dynasty by the reign of Emperor Wanli. But now, the Dungun Museum cannot operate properly because most young people and the elderly do not like to visit the Dungun Museum. This is because, the museum building already looks old and can not attract outsiders. Apart from that, the Dungun Museum is also not given better attention from various parties. In addition, the Dungun Museum is not well promoted and has left the building obsolete and not accepted by visitors. As we know, the Dungun Museum has kept artifacts that have shown evidence of the existence of Islam. There are many steps that can be taken by each party to make the Dungun Museum come alive again with the arrival of visitors. Although our country now has an outbreak of Covid-19 disease, various measures can be taken to keep the museum running as usual. First, the government and the museum spent a little money to renovate the building in order to attract tourists. Next, outsiders, namely the community, also need to cooperate by showing interest in going to the museum. In addition, parents also need to play an important role in educating their children with the field of museums so that they do not forget and know history well. In my opinion, to preserve a historic building like this museum, every individual must have a high level of sobriety to take good care of the historic building. This is because, when we take good care of historic buildings it will have a huge impact on future generations and these old buildings will not disappear in the eyes of the world. Finally, these old buildings can also give a good economic impact to our country.

What the issue about?

After the Taliban took over Afghanistan from the United States in August. The Taliban became the protector of the ancient archeological site of the Bamiyan statue which is a priceless national treasure. The protection of the cultural heritage site was led by a Prime Minister named Mohammad Hassan Akhund. The protection of the site was because they were ashamed and considered the act to be one of the biggest crimes they committed in 2001.

How does it happen

The statues were blown up and destroyed in March 2001 by the Taliban, on the orders of Mullah leader Mohammed Omar. International and local opinion strongly condemned the destruction of Buddhism. Several Taliban sources attributed Omar's decision to blow up the Buddha statue due to Osama bin Laden's growing influence. UNESCO officials working there, many valuable artifacts were stolen and damaged from warehouses.

Any action taken by any parties

The Taliban was that the Taliban ordered the authorities to work to recover the missing artifacts and conduct conservation of the damaged artifacts. The Taliban is also in talks with UNESCO officials who fled Afghanistan during the takeover to be given security guarantees so they can help the Taliban preserve and preserve the treasures at the Bamiyan Temple. The Taliban spent US $ 20 million to implement the project.

Any suggestion on your point

In my opinion, UNESCO needs to enact very strict laws to preserve this very valuable national treasure. Even if a country experiences a war conflict, the national treasures do not need to be touched and are equipped with high security features.

Nasi Lemak is a favorite food for Malaysians especially. This food is a traditional Malay food found in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Brunei. The title of this case study that I studied is the title Why Nasi Lemak is one of the foods that many people like. This title was chosen because I found that food is a very closely related thing in human life. Nasi Lemak is a food that has become a habit for everyone. No matter the time of morning, noon, evening and night. Nasi Lemak has indirectly been gazetted as one of the most popular traditional menus among Malaysians. Not surprisingly, abroad there are still restaurants that serve this food as one of their menu dishes.

I will discuss why Nasi Lemak is the choice of many. Among the reasons is because it is a complete dish with all the flavors in one plate. Nasi Lemak is also often used as an option because it is easily available anywhere. In fact, its cheap price is also a factor in why it is preferred as a main dish.

The suggestion I make in this case study is to make this traditional Nasi Lemak food known to more people. I suggest that today's society should maintain the uniqueness of the food so as not to be left behind by the currents of modernity.

Kampung Laut Mosque is a historic mosque with a unique structure. This mosque located in Nilam Puri, Kelantan was built about 250 years ago by scholars from Java. This mosque was originally built in Kampung Laut, Tumpat near the banks of the Kelantan river. The mosque is also built with four pillars that support a three -story roof made of rumbia leaves. In 1968, the mosque was opened and re -installed in Jalan Kuala Krai, Nilam Puri.

The building material of this mosque consists of hard cengal wood and can last for many years. The architecture and fineness of the carvings found in the construction of the Kampung Laut Mosque show the skills and wisdom of Malay craftsmen who combine traditional art with superior Islamic art. Those responsible in the field of heritage must ensure that the Kampung Laut mosque is well taken care of as this mosque is a heritage for the state of Kelantan.

In my opinion, the Kampung Laut mosque needs to be taken care of in terms of its structure so that future generations can know and recognize the existence of this Kampung Laut mosque. Furthermore, it is likely that this year the Kampung Laut mosque will be placed back in Kampung Laut as before and will likely be designated as a tourist spot next year.

How to Preserve Masjid Ubudiah Kuala Kangsar. ADHA (C18A0142)

This Ubudiah Mosque was built in Bukit Chandan. This mosque has been named as the Mosque of Alexandria because it was built near the area of the Palace of Alexandria and this mosque is also known as the Royal Mosque. This mosque was built following the order of Sultan Idris Murshidul'adzam Shah I (1887-1916) who was the 28th Sultan of Perak because he vowed to build this mosque after he recovered from his illness. But, Ubudiah Mosque has a problem in terms of its construction because the construction of this mosque has been delayed for almost 4 years because the architecture of this building such as marble that has been trampled has been trampled by two elephants belonging to Sultan Idris and Raja Chulan. In addition, the construction of the Ubudiah Mosque could not be continued in a short time because the new marble order from Italy was disrupted due to the outbreak of the First World War, at which time the ship had to pass through Tanjung Harapan. The responsible party took over the construction of the Ubudiah Mosque and eventually the mosque was completed and inaugurated by Sultan Abdul Jalil Nasaruddin Shah who was the Sultan of Perak who replaced Sultan Idris who died in 1916. In my opinion, the Ubudiah Mosque needs to be maintained because has its own uniqueness in terms of construction. In addition, the mosque has its own history that is interesting enough for us to know as our source of information.
