Some of the water could of even come from comets and asteroids. The warming is cause ice and glaciers to melt, which is raising sea level. Carbon Dioxide is absorbing into the ocean acidifying it slowly.

The layer of gas above the crust is the atmosphere. 100 kilometer above the crust is where people consider the atmosphere to end and where space begins. Also know as the Kármán Line. The closer to Earth the warmer the air is, so convection occurs. We have weather because evaporated water rises and makes clouds. At about 25 kilometer above the Earths surface is a layer of ozone. The ozone layer absorbs solar ultraviolet light. Without the ozone layer we wouldn't be protected, we wouldn't be safe. The atmosphere exerts a pressure on the surface of the Earth of about 1 KG per square centimeter, or nearly ten tons per cubic meter. Carbon dioxide only consists of about 0.04% of the atmosphere, BUT is very important.

The crust sort of floats on the mantle. The crust is broken up into huge plates, and these plates can move. The flow of the rock in the mantle moves the crusts plates around, which is powered by heat. The Earth's core heats the mantle causing convection. Warm mantle rises, and cool mantle sinks back down to be warmed up. The speed of the flow is only about a few centimeters a year. Where the plates meet, the crust is usally weaker then in other parts of the plates. Continental crust is higher than oceanic crust, so water flows down to create the ocean. The Earth's core is about the temperature of the sun surface.
