In dystopian literature being written today, what ideas, themes and concerns do you think it is most important for authors to tackle? Why?

Dystopian today- I think that when writers write a dystopian they are looking for teens to read this. So the ideas I think they want to put in it have messages behind them. I think writers want to show themes of crisis and people that are in need. And the ideas I think that they cover are ideas that younger kids are opened to and can take it in better.
Own words- I think that the dystopian lit is currently popular with young adult because they are more opened minded to what is happening. I think with older adults they are just to focused on what there era was like and wanting it to keep it that way so when someone tells a story of change the shun it.

In dystopian literature, there is always a small grain of something that the readers can relate too. In the article that we read, the author mentioned that some readers enjoy it because it reminds them of their school. How fake the people around them can be, and I think that they also enjoy how some have the nerve to rebel against the status quo. This factor makes people dream and wish to have the characteristics of a hero, and often times to die like a hero did. Just doing something to fix a broken society is a dream that people love to dream. One idea that is so important to authors to tackle is how things can go overboard. Equality is a wonderful thing, if people do not overuse it, helping is great, but to a certain extent, it can be disabling. The extremes are what the authors love to write about.

In today's dystopian literature, authors all push to symbolize something currently important and possibly catastrophic, and take it to the extreme. With the world post-apocalyptic, or nearing apocalyptic, the lessons or warnings that the author finds important can be more easily shown. Usually, these ideas center around government, society, and environmental interaction. Putting the concerns about these ideas into a world different than, but creepily similar to, our own, lets the warnings be removed enough, but still understandable, for full realization. So, let's go back to that 'society' idea. Most dystopian stories have at least something to do with it, and because they currently move to mirror teen experiences, their appealing for young adults to read. I know I enjoy reading about a character escaping from and then trying to change a broken, evil world, and see that as sort of a push towards improvement in myself. Hm. Maybe that's why I hated "the Maze Runner," so much.

I think that writers of dystopian novels should write about current problems or how our culture could be headed on a path to a dystopia. This is important as it lets us see the dystopian societies in our cultures so we can try to change them. It also lets us prevent the ones that could be coming. Nuclear war, and dictatorships are some of the more current problems and that is why most novelist are righting about it. Dystopian literature is more popular now because as it said school is very much like a dystopia. I feel like school must be in order to prepare us for the life ahead, which in some cases may be even more of a dystopia. I think that teens are reading these books and taking from the experiences and choices of the characters there in. Granted I am a little annoyed at school right now so I'm not feeling very charitable.

I think that writers that made dystopian literature such as "Maze Runner", "Divergent", and others, should write about the biggest or growing problems of the world today. If the authors write about these then some people will see on what human society can do and how monstrous it can become. This message will help prevent people from moving toward or accepting the wrongs of society. Todays society is just super twisted and messed up, with terrorists attacks, demands to "better" society even though it will only make things worse and other things. The message that the authors write will get people to notice the wrongs of society and will try to prevent it from forming. Dystopian literature is popular among the young adult readers because some don't really care about the theme of the story and just want to read it or they're over protected and feel like they're being controlled and they want to do their own thing in life. Their are other reasons why people enjoy these books, those were just a couple examples why people might want read dystopian literature.

I think that science fiction or problems that could happen in the future are some of the things that dystopian writers should write about. It might be good for the next generation to keep those problems in mind as new technologies are developed that we know nothing about. One example is genetic engineering and the controversy over if we should make human clones. Could making human clones lead to a dystopia? I think that dystopian literature is not as popular with older adults because they have seen to many problems in the world and don't want to here about more. Younger people might like something thrilling and suspenseful and that would include dystopian literature.

Dystopian lit opens the readers mind about a dystopian world. Many books open their minds by seeing how governments are corrupted or how many of the society Can't even identify their differences or similarities as humans with others. This Literature also allows people to compare their modern world to the fantasy world of the book. While comparing them they also open up to many conflicts of the modern world while reading a dystopian book. Many authors now a days who write these books can demonstrate conflicts now a days or even a conflict that can occur in the future due to this person or problem and even rules. They probably try to get these ideas or theme in people's heads to warn them and to do something about it.
