Hence, the teaching of Mathematical concepts and skills shapes their understanding, their ability to solve problems and their confidence towards Maths.

Teacher's attitude towards the teaching of Mathematics plays a significant role in shaping the attitude of students towards the learning of Mathematics.

Mathematics is the main contributor to the bad performance in national examination in Kenya.

The learning of Mathematics depends on the way it is presented to the learner and the way the leaner actively interacts with learner.

Teachers attitude towards their students in school must be favorable enough to carry students along.

Several factors contributed to poor performance of students in Kenya. These factors are inadequate coverage of syllabus, inadequate assignments to students. Lack of appropriate teaching methods and negative attitudes on students towards Mathematics.

Students learn by imitating or modelling their teachers.

Teachers experience an attitude contributing to the learning environment

Main points
1. Both in Maldives, Malaysia and Jamaica teachers believe that students attitude is major influence based on their achievements in the math classroom.
2. The knowledge of mathematics is an essential tool in our society, due to this mathematics has been considered one of the most important core subject in a school curriculum. Proof being that mathematics lessons are taught in schools and colleges throughout the world than any other subject.
3. The student under achievement in mathematics is not just a concern for particular countries, but has become a global concern over the years.
4. A research was not conducted on this area suggesting reasons for low performance of the students. Unlike Jamaica, researchers found out that our maths teachers are not fully trained or taught.
5. For both Maldives and Jamaica, several studies prove mathematics to be a male domain subject because of their confidence in doing mathematical sums and problem solving skills.
6. In Maldives, studies prove that their is no significant difference between the attitudes among male and females students.
7. In Maldives, there is a study that proves the attitude was more positive in third year than first year while in Jamaica there was no study to prove this but based on experience in a typical maths classroom we have seen a more positive attitude developing as you go deeper in the study as you gain a better grasp.

Main points:
1)Students attitude towards Mathematics does indeed affects their performance whether it is negative or positive. First factor that was highlighted was anxiety, self concept, self efficacy and extrinsic motivation.
2)The school, teacher and teaching also influences students attitude towards Mathematics.
3)It is evident that there is no gender difference in attitude towards Mathematics.
4) There is a medium level of positivity towards Mathematics and there is room for improvement.
5) The home, environment and the society are major influences on the attitudes of students towards Mathematics.

- To find out the attitude and gender difference in attitude towards Mathematics in Maldives.
- The results show that students' attitude towards Mathematics is medium with no gender difference in their attitude.
- According to the Ministry of Education of Maldives, only 28.4% of students who did the GCE-O Level Cambridge examination in 2007 has passed above C. This is low performance in Mathematics.
- The studies show that the relationship between the students attitude and students academic performance is positive.
- Mathematics is said to be difficult, cold, abstract, theoretical and ultra-rational subject by the public image.

Main points.
1. Attitudes of teachers towards teaching can predict the result of the future of the child towards the subject.
2. Few students takes maths; however they are not motivated which causes them to fail tremendously.
3. Both students and teachers must have a positive attitude and be motivated for great achievement to take place.
4.The teaching of mathematical concepts and skills that students encounter in school shapes their understanding, confidence and problem solving skills towards maths.
5. Teacher's reaction to the subject can affect the student's behavior significantly or even their interest on the subject.
6. In Kenya the failing of students in math class is due to a shortage of math teachers.
7. Inadequate coverage of syllabus contributes to the failure of students.
