Auf Wikipedia erfährt man dazu folgendes:
Als virtuelle Realität, kurz VR, wird die Darstellung und gleichzeitige Wahrnehmung der Wirklichkeit und ihrer physikalischen Eigenschaften in einer in Echtzeit computergenerierten, interaktiven virtuellen Umgebung bezeichnet.
Für den Unterrichtseinsatz ist VR aber wegen folgender Argumente interessant:
·         VR-Anwendungen können dreidimensionale Inhalte enthalten und Objekte, Strukturen und komplette virtuelle Welten darstellen.
·         Die virtuelle Realität ist eine vom Computer generierte Realität, die durch den Lehrer so erschaffen werden kann, dass die Inhalte exakt den Vorgaben entsprechen.
·         Im Internet gibt es diverse Plattformen, die bestens geeignet sind, virtuelle Realitäten darzustellen.
·         Da mit Hilfe von Virtual Reality komplexe dreidimensionale Zusammenhänge modelliert werden können eignet sich VR hervorragend für die Simulation räumlicher Inhalte und bietet sich deshalb auch für den pädagogischen Einsatz an.
3D-Objekte als fertige VR-Dateien im Unterricht als Anschauungsobjekte nutzen zum Beispiel:

Die veröffentlichten VR-Welten können auf jeder Plattform über die CoSpaces-App geöffnet werden. Das Gestalten der Welten erfolgt über in einfaches online-Interface und als Lehrer kann man Schüler-Accounts erstellen, so dass die Arbeit mit Schülergruppen sehr erleichtert wird. Der Lehrer entscheidet über die Freigabe der Schülerarbeiten. Darüber hinaus kann mittels des Merge-Cube sofort in AR eingestiegen werden. Die beiden einzigen Minus-Punkte sind:
- Die kostenfreie Version ist eine (immer noch mächtige) eingeschränkte Schnupperversion, was man spätestens bei der Erschaffung von Interaktionen über BlocklySpaces merkt.
- Die erstellten Welten laufen zwar auch allen Systemen über den Browser oder die App , aber sie sind nicht Multi-User-fähig. Mit dem Symbol der VR-Brille kann beim Surfen ganz einfach in den VR-Modus umgeschaltet werden. Die Nachteile sind aus meiner Sicht folgende:
- Die Welten werden über eine Script-Sprache programmiert (BabylonJS)
