When Napoleon invaded, he united Italy, but after he left they separated into different states. The kingdom of Sardina was the first to become independent. Many states opposed the unification because of their different cultures. Many people tried to unify Italy but were unsuccessful and executed.

The countries neighboring Mexico were all having revolutions, which led to Mexicans getting suspicious of the rulers only being from Spain. They revolted but were unsuccessful. Many people were angered, leading to a revolutionary war, which had many casualties. They finally got their independence on September 16.

After Napoleon united Germany the German speakers felt the need to defend France from Prussia. Many revolts from Germans started to occur in the 1850s. Germany was split into parts, the Greater Germany and Lesser Germany. Fredrick William IIII was supposed to be crowned king, however, the conservative king refused his crowning. Bismarck fought wars against Denmark and Austria, which caused Germans to split between support. Then the Prussians united North Germany with South Germany. The Prussians were in control of Germany. Germany fought against France and gained their independence. Alsace Lorrain became the empower. Bismarck didn't want people to have power surrounding Germany, so he created the German empire.

The Unification of Italy happened due to the rebellions of the Congress of Vienna. Many Italian speakers stayed outside of the Kingdom of Italy in neighboring areas, planting the seed of Italian irredentism.
