         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Code of Hammurabi:</strong></div><div><strong>1)</strong> If a man bring an accusation against a man, and charge him with a crime, but cannot prove it, he, the accuser shall be put to death.<br><br></div><div><strong>Modern Law:</strong></div><div><strong><em>Defamation</em></strong> is the action of damaging the good reputation of someone. A person may be liable for defamation if they make untrue statements about another person. There are two types of defamation; slander and libel. Slander is the act of voicing defamation while libel is writing the defamation. In the case of defamation, a lawsuit can be filed and the person accused can be brought to court. They could be fined or serve jail time.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Code of Hammurabi:</strong></div><div><strong>22)</strong> If anyone is committing a robbery and is caught, then he shall be put to death.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Modern Law:&nbsp;</strong></div><div><strong><em>Theft</em></strong> is the taking of another person's property without that person's permission. Someone guilty of theft can pay a fine or serve jail time, usually depending on the value of the item/s that was/were taken.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Code of Hammurabi:</strong></div><div><strong>195)</strong> If a son strike his father, they shall cut off his fingers.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Modern Law:</strong></div><div>A person commits <strong><em>domestic violence</em></strong> by committing one or more of the following acts against a person with whom the offender shares or shared a personal relationship, or against the minor child of such a person:</div><ul><li>Intentionally causing or attempting to cause bodily injury</li><li>Putting the victim or a member of the victim’s family or household in fear of bodily injury or continued harassment, to the extent that the fear causes substantial emotional distress<br><br></li></ul>]]></description>
