         <description><![CDATA[<div>Reason #1 - Without predators like wolves the ecosystem can and will go crazy! If we don't have predators then the other animals will start to overpopulate the ecosystem which would destroy the ecosystem.</div><div><br></div><div>Reason #2 - Wolf tourism is a booming business! Yellowstone National Park is famous for its interesting wildlife. Together visitors spent $524.3 million just in communities around Yellowstone National Park.If the wolves aren’t protected then the Wolf tourism business will plummet  because they won’t have any wolves to make money off of. People will also miss out on the chance to see the wolves in their daily lives which is a real bummer.</div><div><br></div><div>Reason #3 - Wolves can be controlled. One of the most talked about problem is that wolves have been killing farmers livestock but the wolves can be monitored and the number of livestock killed can go down.</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In ecosystems animals interact with each other in many different ways. Some ways that they interact with each other. One example is competition.&nbsp; Some animals have the same prey which causes competition. In the Bear Necessities activity we all needed the same food so we all competed for the natural resources.&nbsp; If there isn't a lot of an animal that lots of animals eat that can cause competition between many animals.<br><br>Carrying capacity is another factor that affects the ecosystems.&nbsp; Carrying capacity is how much animals can live in the habitat at one time.&nbsp; If there are too many animals in the ecosystem that can lead to lots of really big problems. That is why it is important to keep a good carrying capacity. In our activity "Bear Necessities" we had a carrying capacity of 2.&nbsp;<br><br>Prey/predator population is a way that animals can interact with each other. In the GIZMO if the grouper was fished too much than the fish that it ate would start to overpopulate. In the lab the percentage started out normal. The numbers were in the 100% range. After the numbers kind of moved all over the place. The snapper fish was 155%. Since the Yellowtail Snapper is one of the groupers prey they weren't getting eaten so they started to produce more.<br><br>&nbsp;The pH level can cause the algae to go crazy. pH is the level of acidity in the water. All of the other organisms cannot live in highly acidic water. When the acid level went down the algae percentage went to 109%.<br><br>&nbsp; &nbsp;High temperature can cause the algae to start growing rapidly while the coral suffers. The algae was at 140% and the coral went down 13%.<br><br>&nbsp;Storm severity can cause the coral to die. They were at 40% after the storm temperature increased. Most of the other organisms were doing fine they were around 80%-98%. &nbsp;<br><br>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Throughout the past 40 years, population of Elk, Moose, Wolves, and Willow Trees have changed in the Yellowstone area.&nbsp;<br><br>&nbsp; The Wolf population has changed since they have been reintroduced into the Yellowstone area. The reintroduction started in 1995. The population was 104 wolves spread out in 11 packs. In the first few years of reintroduction the population grew rapidly because new wolves were forming new packs.&nbsp; The highest point of wolf population was in 2003 when the&nbsp; population was at 170. In 2004 the population went down to 165. Then the population goes back up to 170 in 2007. Up to 2012 the population stayed at 100.&nbsp;<br><br>&nbsp; &nbsp;The Moose population has changed since wolves have been reintroduced in the Yellowstone area. The first few years of the wolves coming back the population was really low because the ecosystem had to adjust to the wolves coming back into Yellowstone. Through the years whenever the wolf population was really high the moose population would be really low and vise versa. The moose population was at it's highest in 1997 and the population was at 2,300.<br><br><br>&nbsp; &nbsp;Willow trees population has changed since the wolves keep the Elk moving. Since the wolves have come back they eat Elk and the elk are to busy to eat the willow so the willow is doing just fine. Since the elk aren't really eating the willow the willow population is 3 times better than before.<br><br>    Elk population increased from 1960-1987. After in 1988 the population started to decline due to food loss. Elk also took a sudden decline in 1967 but the population increased again in 1990.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
