Athena had a big role in Odysseus journey because she thought they were so alike. She also helped escape polyphemus by having all his sheep go in his cave, " but my men riding on the pectoral fleece the giant's blind hands blundering never found" (Homer 394-395) and Odysseus men escaped on the under belly of his sheep. Circe had another big role in his journey The only thing she did that wasn't helpful was that she turned half his crew into pigs. But she helped him because she "gives advice on how to avoid the dangers he will face" He was protected under a magic herb which he was given from hermes. Teiresias helped Odysseus out by telling him about poseidon and how polyphemus will soon get his revenge and also about Helios cows which he said if you kill his cattle your crew will face terrible "you'll find grazing herds of helios by whom all things are seen, all speech is know Avoid those kine"

"Zeus help us pull away before we founder." (Homer 774) This quote is under the greek value of leadership which surprisingly doesn't happen very often because of his crew. The second is "The island ruled by the sorceress-goddess Circe. She transforms half of the men into swine." (Homer 534) is another leadership because of how he didn't forget about his men and came back when most would come back. "They sail for seven days in the land of the Laestrygonians, a group of cannibals." (Homer 529) This was a case of courage, which is because he stood in the battle against the cannibals, and he didn't leave until he was forced to. The Fourth and final quote is "Numerous Suitors, believing Odysseus to be dead, have been continually seeking the hand of his wife, Penelope, in marriage." (Homer 1000) This leads into how he and only his son took down all the suitors which takes tons of courage because they are only two people and against a whole militia of men.
