In this position, he oversaw community outreach and the office’s Living History programs, in addition to coordinating efforts with the National Museum of the Army Reserve. A certified Army instructor for military history detachments, Jason Wilton Wetzel previously served as a historian with the Army at Fort Bragg. Mr. Wetzel holds a bachelor of science in history and a master of arts in education and history from Georgia State University. In the early 2000s, he worked for the National Museum of Patriotism as director of education, helping the facility serve as a learning center where schools could focus on values such as patriotism and citizenship. Earlier in his career, Mr. Wetzel taught high school history and coached athletics in a Maryland high school, and he has also served as director of character education for the Georgia Department of Education.
