This especially focuses on how authoritarian regimes may try to reshape and misguide people's perspectives by a rewrite of history and the text relates this to a relevant George Orwell relevant quote "Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past." One example used in the text was Putin's Russia trying to suppress investigations of WW2-era Soviet history to fit his political narrative.</div>]]></description>

Carr claimed that anyone who wanted to understand any historical narrative should “study the historian before you study the facts”.&nbsp;<br>&gt; Once we understand the vulnerability that perspectives on history have to ‘abuse’, then we already begin to understand the solutions.<br>&gt; In order to understand a historic narrative better, understanding or learning about the historian is an important thing to do.<br>&gt; Same sentences ( collection of words ) can have different meanings depending on the tone of the statement. As we were not their to listen to the tone, understanding the author gives us a fair idea of what he meant.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Although we think of history as something tangible and omniscient, it is very much the opposite, as history is simply the study of multiple perspectives of the truth. What Douglas Adams tries to demonstrate is that on a micro scale, perspective still means everything. To reiterate, James McPherson contributes to the idea of revisionism, in which he reaffirms the idea that history is not the truth, but rather the collective assimilation of perspectives which we use as segments of a 'film' that has been spliced together; in which the end goal is (generally) the most accurate accounting of the truth as possible. The words of Winston Churchill are a stark reminder of how this idea can be twisted if a single individual holds a differing or conflicting intent in their methodology.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This section focuses on the idea of a "reality-suffocating myth" which historian Simon Heffer wrote about in one of his articles. This essentially means that one part of history is taught to a specific group, but not in the detail that others might be taught, or its significance is exaggerated. This leads to it not being as reflected or analyzed and can also lead to awkward conversations between two historians. For example, in the US student learn about the American Revolutionary War and are taught that it is one of the most significant events in the break up of the British Empire, but in the rest of the world, it is barely taught and is seen as an add-on to the French Revolution.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There are 4 <strong>key thinkers</strong> on the topic of <strong>History</strong>,&nbsp; their names are; <strong>AJP Taylor, Niall Ferguson, George Orwell, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. </strong>All of them have different views and points. <strong>AJP Taylor "Once I discovered that I could earn money more easily by becoming a journalist I slipped out of teaching history and I can almost say became a historian in my spare time".</strong> AJP Taylor was the first television celebrity historian, he made a career switch from History teacher to journalist and created multiple popular lectures where he challenged Orthodox beliefs and perspectives.<strong> Nial Ferguson,"</strong><strong><em>An entire career can be built on the trick of contrariness". </em></strong>Nial Ferguson, was like AJP Taylor had the ability to combine the roles of academic historian and public personality. <strong>George Orwell "Who controls the past controls the future". </strong>George Orwell’s famous quote in his novel 1984 makes clear the motive for authoritarian. <strong>Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie "Nkali", </strong>TED Talk by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie A potent remark on the significance of power in historical narratives can be found in the power of a single anecdote. She explains that how, what, and who recounts stories depends on power using an Igbo phrase, "Nkali," which roughly translates as "to be greater than another."<br>Power, according to her, is the capacity to make another person's story into the only true account of that person.</div>]]></description>
