Although I come from a family with three generations rooted in mental health, my own nursing values and clinical experiences have guided me toward a different path. I am deeply inspired by high-acuity environments where critical thinking, rapid decision-making, and teamwork play a vital role in patient outcomes. As I transition into practice, my goal is to become a Critical Care Unit (CCU) or Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurse, where I can uphold the values of compassion, competence, accountability, and patient-centred care while supporting individuals in their most vulnerable moments.

During my time at Canadore, I have served on the BScN Student Council and worked as a Student Research Assistant, both of which strengthened my leadership, collaboration, and evidence-informed practice skills. I also gained valuable hands-on clinical experience working as a PSW at Middlesex Terrace LTC in London, Ontario, where I developed confidence, adaptability, and a strong foundation in direct patient care.

As I graduate and begin my nursing career, I look forward to the opportunities ahead—especially those that will help me grow into a skilled and dedicated critical care nurse.

To add on, the Indigenous portion of the research is led by Carly Renaud · Manager, Indigenous Research and Development. In the new year I will be helping her in her research on the effect of IPE for the Ingigenous population at the Mega level.

The Honors BScN program is the first of its kind and the graduating cohort of 2026 deemed it necessary to state a student council to promote and advocate for current and upcoming students. For the first year I acted as the President and oversaw one of our first fundraisers. I also contacted the Nipissing University Nursing Society (NUNS) and came to a general agreement for a start up fund for the new Canadore Nursing Student Council. For the second year it was decided there would be no more hierarchical positions, but a general council consisting of executive members. I was a past executive member and my main job entailed documenting minutes, documenting total hours, scheduling meetings and filing paperwork as the Secretary from the year 2022 - 2024.

My mother, an RN, practiced in the U.A.E. before coming to Canada, where she worked at William Osler and Etobicoke General, specifically in the Emergency Department and the Critical Care Unit (CCU). She later expanded her high-acuity experience by working in ICU and Post-Operative Surgery at Trillium before joining LHSC University Hospital.

Growing up with parents deeply committed to mental health and critical care instilled in me a strong sense of responsibility to serve patients when they are most vulnerable. They always emphasized that the mind and body must heal together, and that mental illness is never a choice—principles that have become central to my own nursing philosophy. Their influence not only sparked my desire to enter the profession but also inspired my ambition to become an ICU or CCU nurse, where I can provide high-acuity, evidence-based, and compassionate care to patients and families during their most critical moments.
