The Pietà is a piece portraying the love of a mother to her child. The sculpture shows the Virgin Mary holding the dead body of Christ after his crucifixion, death, and removal from the cross. Michelangelo purposely made Mary bigger than Christ to show her role, and how no matter how old you get, you will always be a child to your mother. This piece is one of 7, and one of the most popular.

Michelangelo painted the whole ceiling of this church. He built tall structures to work on and created many different angels in this piece. I choose this because the only reason why he did this was for the money. He hated the church and painted an angel flipping someone off. I also think its cool how he worked on something so high up.

It is said Raphael painted every famous philosopher, from ancient Greece, and even himself in this, but figuring out who is who has proven difficult even for the best historians.
