United States, meaning that Regionalism described life as they saw it, instead of how they imagined or wanted it to be depending on their location.

3) What was the main focus of Regionalist writers?
Regionalist writers main focus is writing fictional stories and poetry that focuses on the characters, dialect, customs, topography, and other features particular to a specific region.

Naturalism is the "idea od belief that only natural (as opposed to supernatural or spiritual) laws and forces operate in the world".

2) What does Naturalism have to do with Realism?
It was an extreme movement that grew out of Realism, a movement that Charles Darwin, believed
that people had little control over their own lives.

3) What was the main focus of Naturalist writers?
Naturalist writers focused on a scientific method to write their novels.
Unlike realism, which focuses on literary technique, naturalism implies a philosophical position: for naturalistic writers, since human beings are, in Emile Zola's phrase, "human beasts," characters can be studied through their relationships to their surroundings.

1) Artists of both movements tended to use the observed world as their subject (as opposed to the Neoclassicists who would often paint historical or mythological subjects).
2) They both favored rural rather than urban scenes.
3) Politically, they shared a belief in liberalism and the dignity of the "common man".

Differences:
1) Realism was a literary movement whose authors described life as they saw it, while Romanticism is based on life of how they imagined or wanted it to be.
2) Realism views life on how it is, hard or easy, while Romanticism views life as the best and only the best it could be, the bright side of everything.
3) Realism highlights the reality of life and does not use any embellishments to cover up what might be perceived as ugly or gory while Romanticism highlights the beauty in everything and focusing on the little things that make up life.
