After reviewing all of this week's content on time management and procrastination, what is one strategy you will put in place to manage your time more effectively? Be sure to include your first and last name so I can assign points. (This assignment is outside of Canvas and will appear as "missing" if you don't post something in Canvas. If you don't want to see "missing" just type "submitted" or copy your post into Canvas.)

Hi Everyone,

One thing I am going to try is getting a whiteboard and writing what to do during the week. I often forget to walk the dog, or forget an assignment, by having a white board it will give me a visual cue, and remind me to circle back. I have already got the white board, and now I just have to set it up. I think it will help create more organization in my day, by putting things on the board before they are due.

Thank you,

Lyla N

Hey Everyone,

I really like the GRAB method that was presented to us and plan to utilize it moving forward in school and life. I like that it starts with smaller, realistic goals instead of large looming tasks. Making sure responsibilities take precedence and analyzing where your time goes are both things that would help me to help my procrastination concerns. And last but most importantly is the balance. Balance is important on every level in your life. If you can find balance, you will find everything else falls into place.

-Jen :)

I plan to create a time-slot schedule that will be filled with time frames where I will do specific activities that I have to, similar to a weekly schedule, which was demonstrated in the "Intro to Time Management" video. An example of this is creating specific time-frames in which I will do homework from classes, give that I've never really had a proper schedule for when I decided to start working. It was because of this that my study times were very indefinite, and sometimes I would always instead make myself work during night, which is something I've gradually have started stray from doing from now on, unless the work takes up more time than expected. With this method, I think I can finally start to adjust to how I manage my time with things, such as chores, making time for myself, and talking with friends, that way I'm not just living miserably doing work for a majority of my days, and ignoring everything else that I need to do.

My strategy to improve time management is by using my calendar and reminders app more often on my phone, I figure that since I carry my phone everywhere with me, I'll always have accessibility to check my schedule and what I'll need to do once I'm off of work. Another thing I plan on doing is putting up a big whiteboard in my room so when I wake up in the morning and before I go to bed, I can plan ahead and be prepared on how I can fit everything into my schedule the following day. I think adding these improvements into my life will definitely help me a lot with efficiency in getting all my work done and getting a good amount of time for studying in rather than doing everything last minute like I've done in the past.

After reviewing the content on time management and procrastination, one strategy I will put in place to manage my time more efficiently is creating a consistent weekly schedule. I will dedicate four hours each weekday after work, from Monday to Friday, strictly for completing school assignments and studying. This approach will allow me to stay ahead of deadlines and avoid the stress of last minute work. By using a planner or digital calendar, I can block out specific times and stay focused on each task. This also gives me flexibility, leaving the weekend open as a grace period in case anything unexpected comes up. Staying organized and setting priorities will help me avoid distractions and procrastination. I believe this routine will improve both my academic performance and overall mental well being. Making school a daily habit instead of a rushed task will help me stay on track with my goals.

One strategy I want to start utilizing for time management is to start with the more important or difficult tasks when I have free time. If a big assignment feels daunting, I may put it aside until further notice. This has been detrimental in the past because I procrastinate on the assignment that should have had the most time put into it. One tool I enjoyed from the lesson was breaking long projects into smaller tasks. I could dedicate time to completing smaller tasks of a big assignment until the whole assignment is completed. This will also allow time for the smaller assignments to be completed when I am busy with other day-to-day tasks.

One strategy I’ve been working on this summer semester is creating a set schedule where I dedicate certain days just for homework. That way, I can have at least one guilt-free day to relax and not worry about turning stuff in last minute. I work long shifts Friday through Sunday, which is usually when assignments are due, and by then I’m just too tired to focus which makes me frustrated and honestly makes me feel like I hate school. So now I use Mondays to recover and plan out my week, start chipping away at assignments, and get in a groove. If I get enough done, I let myself enjoy Tuesday to hang out with family or do something fun, then get back to work Wednesday and Thursday. I could also switch the days around if needed, like dedicating Monday & Tuesday, but plan to go out Wednesday etc. This schedule has helped me stop procrastinating and actually enjoy school more. Also, I noticed someone mentioned using the calendar and reminder app on their phone, and I could definitely see myself using those more to keep track of due dates and stay on top of things.

After going over this week’s stuff on time management and procrastination, one strategy I’m going to try is making it my goal every day to spend at least 2–3 hours on homework or studying before I do anything else. I usually wait until nighttime when I’m already tired, and that’s when I struggle to focus or do my best work. So instead, I’ll try doing it earlier when I’m more awake. I’m also going to write reminders in my phone and put sticky notes where I usually sit, just to keep myself on track. I think doing it this way will help me stop procrastinating and get things done sooner.

One strategy I will put in place to manage my time more effectively is purchasing a planner. I am going to purchase a planner this week for the 2025-2026 school year. At the end of each day, I'm going to write down what I want to complete for the following day. I also want to write out the time I want to complete that task and how long I estimate I will work on it. For example, an entry may look like: 9AM- Study for Physics Quiz (2 hrs). I really like planning out each of my days but I find it isn't as effective when I do it on my notes app or online. I prefer to have a physical copy. Since I didn't have a physical calendar/planning system for last school year, I believe it caused me to struggle with time management.

After this week’s lesson and helpful tips on time management and procrastination, I have already purchased a planner that I will use exclusively for school. I do find it effective for me to have that in physical form, because writing things down imbeds the tasks into my brain and helps me with remembering. With all of life’s daily encounters it’s too easy for certain priorities to be forgotten, “outta sight outta mind.” I am going to keep the planner out on my vanity, where I will see it everyday for reference. I especially liked the “Top 3 for the Day” idea and will definitely be using that as a way to initiate my goals for the day. In my experience starting and finishing with small and realistic tasks gets the ball rolling for the bigger ones at hand and creates an overall accomplished feeling, providing motivation to keep going.

I plan to be more precise with my calendar. I love using my calendar on my phone and laptop and how it syncs together. I also have my work schedule automatically pop up there. However I don't specifically plan study time and other things I want to do through out the week. I only have my "mandatory" events. I also have to reframe what I think studying is. It's weird to think that I should be going over it regularly because it's just something I would do the night before a test in high school. Another thing I want to learn how to do is prioritize. Everything feels like a "must do" so I get overwhelmed. Doing my nails doesn't actually have the same level of importance as something like homework but when I get the urge to do something I feel like it must get done even if it means setting other things aside. I'm doing so much better than last fall semester so I want to keep my momentum and build on that this summer and for next school year.

One strategy I'm committed to putting in place is creating a set schedule. I've noticed that when I leave assignments until the last minute, the stress of the looming deadline makes it harder to focus and produce quality work. By scheduling specific times to work on assignments as soon as they're assigned, I hope to break them down into manageable chunks and avoid that overwhelming feeling. Another crucial aspect of managing my time more effectively is creating a dedicated workspace. With a big family, finding a quiet place to concentrate can be challenging, but it's essential for productivity. I plan to designate a specific area outside of my home, solely for studying and completing assignments. By minimizing distractions and creating a focused environment, I believe I can improve my time management skills and overall academic performance with these goals

One time management strategy I will plan to use to be more effective this summer is to make a google calendar in order to be more organized. This will help me manage what needs to get done giving me time to prepare when to do these assignments. As well as put other events that I have throughout the day. The thing about an online calendar is I'm able to set it to where I get notifications on my phone. Since I'am on my phone mostly all day it will help me remember things more better. I also have options to set when the assignment is completed or incomplete. This will be a huge impact since I have so many things to do this summer. I have two internships and two jobs as well as these two JC classes. Planning out my homework assignments and plans with friends will be more easier since I don't have to rely on my mind, but on my online calendar. I think the only problem with this strategy is that I have to manually put my assignments and other events. Which due to my procrastination it will make me back track and the calendar will be useless. I have to immediately put these task in order for this strategy to work effectively. This will help me avoid turning in late assignments which would make my grade stay high all semester. I will try this for couple of weeks and see the results. If this doesn't work I will try to use one of my peers to see which one suits me more better.

Secondarily it lets me build in strategies like time blocking to keep up motivation and help with energy levels throughout the day.

One Time Management technique I will try to implement into my daily life is a planner. I think I will do it in my notes application. I will try and break down everyday the night before. I will separate my day into time slots and make sure I do everything that I have to do at the designated time. This will also help me strengthen my will power. I have often made plans to do stuff but made excuses for why I could not. I'm hoping that this strategy will make me do what I need to do when I need to do them. The fact of the matter is there is enough time in the day to get everything done, I just have to stop being lazy, and prioritize my goals.

As I enter the final stretch of my degree, I want to make the most of our time and crush these last few semesters. To help us stay organized and on top of our studies, I'd like to suggest we start using Google Calendar to schedule study sessions for upcoming exams and big research projects, as I tend to score low on tests.

It's a great tool for coordinating times that work for me and ensures that I have a clear schedule. This can help me stay on track and reduce my anxiety.

I used to be extremely skilled in time management, but as my schedule got more filled and my responsibilities increased, I have found it to be much more difficult for me (hence why I am submitting this on Sunday at 8pm). I plan to start prioritizing getting all of my school responsibilities done in the first half of the week as I often put it off but then run out of time later in the week and I am forced to rush to get things done. I will make a week's to do list and get all school responsibilities completed within the first half of the week which can allow for more free time over the weekend.

Some of the things I've implemented for myself is waking up earlier for than I normally would. This helped me to properly allocate time to necessary tasks and gave me more time to focus on School. I've also properly scheduled out both of my jobs and gatherings with my friends and family so dedicating time to my multiple classes is manageable. I've cleaned my living space so I feel less distracted and anxious about my environment.

A time management strategy I plan to do is create a physical calendar of my schedule, something that I couldn't miss seeing each day. I tend to poorly choose times to do my assignments when I have a mandatory outing to attend to with my family or I have to go to work later in the day. Having a calendar of my weekly or even monthly schedule will give me a better grasp of what I have planned for later in the day, so that I can make sure that I have to get my assignments done before then. With better planning of my day, I would be able accomplish most or all of my schoolwork before doing anything else to avoid having to quickly finish an assignment before midnight in a state of stress and fatigue.

A time management strategy id like to implement In my educational skills is a physical calender or notebook with clear goals, events or task i need to complete or go to. I tend to forget alot of things but i noticed when it comes to seeing it physically or seeing it infront of me it reminds me to get it done and not wait last minute to complete my task or move it for another time. Having a handheld schedule book would help me improve my time schedule and also improve my determination for completing task that i forget

What I plan to do to help improve my time management is write out everything I have to do daily and organize it into a schedule that is suitable for me. What I would need to do is start prioritizing what I need to do rather than what I enjoy doing, such as giving more time to work on my assignments rather than using most of my time as my free time. I would need to set a strict time to work on my assignments, such as the afternoon for example that's so I can actually get my work done, even if I am feeling too lazy to do it, as that tends to be what makes all my assignments pile up. This way, I can smoothly do all of my assignments without having to rush through all of them last minute and cause unnecessary stress towards myself, and it will be a step in working on fixing my strong procrastination. Once I have a set schedule that I can get used to, it will increase my motivation and make it easier to complete my priorities.
