I think that the image is a good reference for the quote. First and foremost, the image displays a female and a male racing to the finish line; however, the female is encountered with multiple of obstacles. The image displays equity, which is often times misunderstood with equality. It is true as the image says it is the same distance, however, the path is more difficult for the female. Furthermore, I choose this specific image for this quote because it demonstrates there is still people who view others as being less or inferior. What the quote and image mean to me is that often times the minority culture is forced to assimilate into the majority culture. I believe it is critical we embrace all cultures, whether they are the majority or minority.

The image I used for this quote is a boy who appears to be overwhelmed. I used this specific image to demonstrate that when teachers do not tend to the student's needs it can be hard for them to learn. If teachers only teach based on the book or teaching for standardized test then students are not actually learning. We should be aware of Gardner's multiple intelligence that each student learns differently. All in all, I think this quote is important because there is teachers who base their curriculum on standardized testing which is often times not the best solution. We need to focus on the student to better ensure the student is grasping the concept we as educators are teaching.

The image I used for this quote is a man giving an apple to a young girl. In the background, we see the shadow of each person and shows a contradiction of the person they are compared to their appearance. Similarly, to the quote when the teachers were classifying students as either good or bad based on their appearance. The quote was quite intriguing to me in that a teacher would characterize 
a student based on their own biases.  I think it is important to reserve all our thoughts on students until we get to know them better meaning we should not judge a book by its cover. I think this quote is very powerful in the sense that it allows educators to become aware that students are the focal point in teaching. As teachers, we should try to create an atmosphere where students can feel safe or feel as they are at home.  We should teach students to be respectful towards other students who are different from them. The image I used to represent this quote is a diverse class. In the image everyone appears to be happy despite each one of them being different. I personally believe this quote is very powerful in that it is a great reference for today’s society. The student in the video is a Harvard graduate that overcame multiple obstacles. One obstacle this particular student had to go through was being accepted to this renowned university. As we are aware legal status is a requirement for numerous universities.  Despite her legal status it did not impede her dream of attending such a prestigious university. The quote says a female student viewed education as an opportunity. I think there are many people in general who take many things for granted when others would like to have that opportunity. For instance, DACA students who want to continue their education but cannot because of their legal status. Or in this case the valedictorian student who would take advantage of the education she received at Harvard. I think this video is a very good reference point for the quote. In the quote it mentions each student learned something new from their interaction with other students. One thing I have noticed from students when they embrace diversity is that it teaches them to be tolerant towards others. Not to mention students develop better socialization skills. Students become aware that each student is different from one another and learn to value a person for who they are rather than their ethnic background. I am a personal advocate for diversity, I think every student can work effectively together. Each mind is a different world and should be valued. As a future educator, I think we should emphasize the importance of collaboration. In the video I was really intrigued by the fact that the school took the time to allow students to discover different countries from all around the world. I think the quote is a good indicator of what kind of teacher we should not be. First impressions are always remembered whether they are good or bad. In this case the teacher was perceived as unprepared and the students began to feel uncomfortable. The students were thinking about leaving early because the teacher was not there on the first day. The video I used for this quote is an example of how not to teach. The professor seems static and is not encouraging class engagement. By observing the video we can see the students being detached and disinterested in anything the teacher was saying. As educators, we should be mindful of our students. Each one of them has different needs and should be considered. For instance, if a student seems to be lost maybe change the way you present your lesson. Try to figure out the misconception the student may have. Give students the opportunity to move around and collaborate with others. In the video the professor should actually have a student wait time, allowing students to actually answer instead of answering himself. Nonetheless, I think we should always be prepared, especially on the first day of schools. I found this quote very intriguing in that students are aware that responsibilities are essential to their daily life. The student was excited about going to Disneyworld and seeing her dad until she remembered she was the lab equipment distributor. She placed her classroom job before her personal life. She was aware that she had a duty and there was “no one else” who could do it. I think this is important for students to develop a sense of responsibility. Likewise in the video it shows different students, all of which had a different role in the classroom. Not to mention that it is an excellent classroom management strategy. I think proper classroom management helps build character for each student. The student changes his or her perception in the classroom. The student feels that their classroom is their new home and should look after themselves. It helps each student feel as they are part of the community.

This specific quote stood out to me the most. I found it to be very revealing in that many students are judged based on the perceptions teachers may have on a person based on their background. Bias is something that occurs in many educational settings and should not be taken lightly. As an educator we should not think any student is inferior rather we should think each student is capable of fulfilling their full potential with proper assistance from us as educators. In the video we can hear a substitute teacher speaking about the people of Mexico. She generalized all descendants of Mexico are poor and they are bad people. It was obvious she was telling students completely false information and could have negatively affected all students. Students of Mexican descent in the classroom may have felt singled out because of this accusation from this substitute while other students may change their perceptions on this group of people. Nonetheless, I feel the moral of the lesson is we should be accepting towards others and should be mindful of what we say in school.

I strongly believe this quote is a good reference for me and most of my cohort. Most of us are going through lots of pressure and stress to successfully complete the education program. Some of us are devoting significant time to our education in order to have a higher chance of success. I believe as a whole our main goal is to successfully complete the program and fulfill our dream of educating young minds. We sometimes forget that our actions can have a negative impact on our life. For example, I feel tired every day because I do not get enough sleep daily. I am for the most part staying up late trying to complete most of my assignments to be prepared for the following day. I know this is not appropriate, but I feel anxious when I do not get something completely done right away. I am aware that some of my actions are not the best decisions I have taken, but I know my hard work will eventually pay off. Furthermore, I view the image as a reflection of the quote. I think when we try to exceed our body without the appropriate rest we can suffer tremendously. In the picture it is clear squid ward is exhausted, however, he believes he is not.  I think this quote is a very powerful message for all of us aspiring educators. I think this specific action the teacher took is exceptional. The teacher decided to join some of his students who were playing basketball. I think there are countless reasons why I think this decision will have an influential effect. First, when students see a teacher take the time to participate with them it helps build a teacher student relationship.  The teacher instantly becomes more approachable in the eyes of students. The teacher took the time to be involved in something that interest his students. I think it is critical to form these bonds with students because then can a student feel more secure about being in the classroom. This also demonstrates to students that teachers really value them as a vital member of the community. In this picture we can see a male, presumably the educator and his students. The teacher took the time to involve himself with students. From viewing the picture it is clear the students are very focused and engaged. If student acknowledge that you an educator takes the time and effort to be involved with them then a student really is grateful. I think this quote is not only intriguing but also has a strong message. I think that commitment has a significant impact on each person. If a person is goal orientated they may be more likely to be committed. I think this quote reminds me of my presence in the education program. If I was not really committed I would not be in the program. I am aware I want to be an educator that has a positive impact on many young minds. I want my hard work and commitment to pay off in the long run. I want to be the best educator, I can possibly be with hard work and sacrifice. In the image I think it is a good reference for the quote. I think some people fear commitment because they may believe it is a waste of time. I am aware of the extravagant amount of hours we put in to ensure we are successful in the program. I think this quote is relevant in today’s society. Due to the vast amount of diversity, we encounter we need to be able to think more critically. We need to be aware that each culture has its own set of norms and beliefs. The beliefs and ideology of each person is different from the next. When I first read the quote I could not help but think the same thing. When I hear the word battle I automatically connect it with some sort of fight or violent action. Like the image I made the connection of battle with a violent act. When in actuality it was a reference to some sort of competition between two elderly males in the story. As a future educator, I need to be aware of each individual student rather than as a whole.  Every person has an implicit bias, whether they accept it or not. As a future educator, I need to be aware of it and not let it impact my ideology on students. I think this quote is really relatable to my personal school experience. I think most students always want to show off their new clothes not only in the first week of school but whenever they get a chance. I think this may be because of the first impression. I think most students want to show another student the new clothes, or haircut they got over the summer. If you show off your new clothes on the first few weeks of school it may indicate you have different clothes from previous years. I know when I had new clothes I was anxious for the following day of school to start to wear it. In the image it shows one student with a different form of dressing. I think he wanted people to notice him with all his new clothing and possibly his hair cut. I think this a very intriguing and important quote for all who inspire to become a teacher or are currently a teacher.  I think a teacher needs to have the same expectations for all of their students. If an educator doubts the capabilities of their student then their academic success can suffer drastically. A teacher should view each student is capable of fulfilling their full potential with the proper guidance. If a teacher views their students as vital members of a community the student will feel more comfortable coming into the classroom. A teacher should not have any bias toward his or her students. I have personally been affected by the bias a teacher had on my ethnicity. She believed I was somehow inferior to the rest of my peers because I was not proficient with the language. I did not feel the teacher trusted me enough and did not try her best to help me out. I think this critical to the success of students. I think the quote is an excellent reference for background knowledge. In order for students to fully comprehend any lesson and educator should ensure students have the adequate prerequisite knowledge.            For example, if the teacher is discussing the seasons the teacher should not infer each student has experienced being in snow for instance. Some students may have never ever before seen snow and may not know what that season is. So the teacher should build their background knowledge with brainstorming activities. Nevertheless, in the video we see the teacher used a song most of her students knew and tied it into a particular lesson. I thought this was an exceptional example of how a student can connect what they are learning to their personal experience. I think it was very beneficial to students in that it allowed them to be mobile and just have fun for a short period.

School is almost like a small earth in one place because of all the different people you can encounter. There are students from all over the world and different regions you could have never imagined. I think it is important to model to students the idea of tolerance and acceptance. If you as an educator demonstrate to students that you accept everyone despite their differences, then the students are more likely to do the same. If the teacher has some bias towards a particular group of people the student tend to follow their steps. This group of students may feel targeted and not receive the same respect like everyone else.  I think the picture is an excellent example of showing respect towards other cultures students may pertain to.  I actually am thinking about incorporating this idea into my future classroom as well. For example, if a teacher works in a rural area she or he cannot be able to infer the students are familiar with city life experiences. The teachers need to connect the information/ lesson to experiences that their students are familiar with. The only way a teacher can accomplish this is by taking the time and actually listening to his or her students. In addition, actively taking part in the community and participating in school events. Furthermore, the image is an excellent reference into what a teacher sacrifices in order to ensure his or her students are academically successful. The teacher needs to use more than one strategy when they teach a lesson. Each student learns differently and is at a different stage in learning. If students are not interested or engages then they are less likely to pay attention.  In this quote the students were excited at the beginning, however, the teacher failed to modify the lesson for students who were more advanced. The student already learned how to pass the level on which they were assigned and found it useless to use the laptop anymore. So, I would have tried to find an alternative for those students. In the video it demonstrates the students are bored with the lesson until the teacher changes the presentation.
