In addition, our 5th and 6th graders were invited to participate in EU centred games, from flags and language quizzes to learning a typical Danish and French kids game that our 10th graders had learned about from their exchange partners. The kids could also win prices (obtained from the „Europe point“ in Bonn by one of the planners by participating in a drawing contest for the best Europe Day logo highlighting cultural diversity and a European community spirit.

Europa auf spielerische Weise erlebbar gemacht - EVAU - Evangelisches Gymnasium Siegen-Weidenau

On Friday, 9th May, our lower secondary students came together to celebrate Europe Day—an occasion dedicated to peace and unity across the continent. This marked the first-ever Europe Day event at ESCPH, and it was made possible through the initiative and enthusiasm of our S3 students, who recently returned from the “We are EUrope” trip.

Inspired by their travels and learning, the S3 students took the lead in planning a vibrant afternoon of activities designed to educate and engage their peers. The event featured a friendly football tournament, a carefully curated playlist of European music, an inviting food stall offering tastes from around the continent, and an informative brochure about the European Union, which they created themselves to raise awareness and spark curiosity.

The event was not only educational but also filled with joy and community spirit.

They prepared and delivered a presentation on the European Union to all classes in the school, from Year 7 to Year 10.
The Year 7 students created flags representing all EU member states, which were then displayed throughout the school.
Year 8 and Year 9 pupils took part in a quiz following the presentation.
Meanwhile, the Year 10 students visited the “Women Matter” exhibition, which had been curated by the LCE class, and also completed a quiz based on the exhibition.

Pupils who achieved the highest scores were awarded small prizes provided by the European Parliament.
