International Women's Day is annually celebrated to spotlight the status of women in society and advocate for equality in every facet of life. Each March, this occasion is marked with various marches and movements, including the influential #MeToo movement.

Over the last five years, #MeToo has gained significant popularity in contemporary society, serving as a powerful social movement combating sexual abuse and harassment while endorsing women's rights and gender equality. Despite its positive impact, concerns have arisen about the potential for misuse of the #MeToo movement. A case in point is Amber Heard, who has been revealed as the abuser despite portraying herself as a victim over the past few years.

In the broader context of the conversation, it is worth considering the evolving roles of women throughout history and reflecting on perspectives regarding women's empowerment, the aspiration for gender equality, and the dismantling of all barriers that hinder such progress.

1. Were my points and context clear enough? I think it was clear enough, as I saw that several people commented and replied to the points I've raised.

2. What kind of sentences that I used when I got my turn to speak up? I was able to word sentences well for other people to understand, and even replied to other people's opinions.

3. Were there any related ideas to the topic that I missed mentioning when I did the LGD? If there was any, what was it? I think I followed the discussion well, but if we had more time, I'd prefer to talk more background content such as the #Metoo movement to focus on a more detailed topic.

4. What was good enough already during my LGD turn? I think I've raised enough knowledgeable points, and had a decent amount of chances in speaking. I was able to stick with the theme of 'discussion' rather than just talking about random points that disrupted the flow of conversation.

5. What should I improve for my LGD turn? I'd like to be able to create more presence in the discussion, and explore different ranges of vocabulary.

LGD 2: The Conflict between Palestine and Israel

The current situation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict escalated in early October 2023, with renewed hostilities between Israel and Hamas. This conflict follows a history of tension dating back to the late 19th century, marked by wars, territorial disputes, and failed peace talks. The recent outbreak of war has resulted in a significant loss of life and raised concerns about the safety of civilians in the region.

Against the backdrop of the conflict, regional dynamics have become increasingly complex. The involvement of Iran, Hezbollah, and Houthi rebels adds another layer of complexity to the situation. The international community, including the United Nations and particularly the United States have expressed concerns. The conflict's impact on existing geopolitical relationships, such as the Israel-Saudi Arabia deal, further complicates the landscape.

Recent developments reveal a dire humanitarian crisis, with millions of Palestinians facing displacement and limited access to essential resources. The encirclement of Gaza City, evacuation orders, and the broader implications for neighbouring countries underscore the urgency of addressing the crisis. As participants in this discussion, consider the complexities of the conflict, the humanitarian challenges, the propaganda, the trends that have been ongoing worldwide like boycotting, cyber-shaming the Israeli or the IDF, and potential paths towards a resolution that ensures the well-being and security of all those affected.
