Two geographic features that help Mesopotamia thrive is the Tigris river and the Euphrates river. These geographic features, are important because when it rains the river floods and the water from the river sink into the ground and that makes the soil that helps Mesopotamian farmers plant crops. Without the rivers Mesopotamia would not have had the rich soil that helps them be so unique and thrive.

Organized Government

Government and laws are important because without it there would be so much crime life would be very hard.
Hammurabi's code of laws tell me that Mesopotamia is all about fairness, because if you knock someones teeth out BAAM you also lost your teeth, but it also tells me that it is a cruel place because if the house you built kills the son of the owner then your son would have to die also.
The code of laws was important to Mesopotamia because the laws forced people to do good jobs and to respect people higher in power. Because if you insult someone higher in power publicly you would get wiped 60 times publicly, also if you did bad on someones eye surgery then you will lose your hands and then you are useless to everybody.

Exemplary:
I think that the code of laws did do what it was addressed to do, because from looking at all the laws that were being enforced the main thing looked to be about fairness. So I don't really know because I did not live back in the Mesopotamian era but I think that the main idea of the laws got addressed. Because nowhere in any of the book and videos it said that Mesopotamia was filled with hate and crime.
I think the type of government Mesopotamia had made it survive not thrive but survive. I said survive because the laws forced people to make good things for people, respect the upper class, and overall just be fair. So I definitely think that the government helped Mesopotamia survive.

Class Divisions

Some of the different class divisions are, the Kings and Priests in the upper class, then Scribes Merchants and artisans and commoners in the middle class, and then slaves in the lower class.
A possible job for the upper class would be a priest, they would lead worships and are very high in power. A possible skill for priests could be public speaking, the level of education for priests I think would be pretty high. A possible job for the middle class would be a scribe. A skill for a scribe would be being able to write very well, many people in Mesopotamia did not know how to write. The level of education I believe would have been pretty good. A job for the lower class is being a slave. Slaves I imagine would be pretty good at cooking and other chores because that is all they do for 3 years. The education for slaves I guess was pretty trash.
Class divisions in Mesopotamia were created so people could specialize in different things. Some people could be good at writing so instead of having just one that people did not play to people strengths they created scribes, and other jobs like that.

Exemplary:
A benefit to living in the upper class is everybody respects you and you get payed very good money. A set back for living in the upper class is nothing because you are the highest in power life is great. A benefit to living in the middle class, is you live a normal life witha normal job, nobody thinks you are dirt and nobody thinks you are a god, it is a normal life. A drawback to living in the middle class is it may be hard to get enough money depending on what your job is, if it is a scribe you should get enough money but if you are a commoner you may struggle a bit. A benefit to living in the lower class is you are just a slave for 3 years. A drawback to living in the lower class is you do not gt payed enough and you usually are a slave and nobody respects you.

In the Mesopotamian era people practiced polytheism. Polytheism is the belief of more than one god. The gods that they believe in control every things like wind and rain.
One important thing that they believed was that they ate, drank, slept and married just like us. Another thing that they believed was that gods lived forever and had great power. And another thing they believed in was if the gods were happy with the people prayers and offerings then they would give good fortune to the city, if not then they would bring wars, floods, and other bad things.

Exemplary:
Ziggurat were towers that were mad from mud and brick. The Ziggurats were in the middle of the city because the word symbolism of the word mountain was so powerful in mythology people tried to replicate them to give them good fortune. They were made by mud and brick and were very large. There are about 25 ziggurats still standing today.

Some examples of art from the Mesopotamian era is a lyre this is a musical instrument

This is what the lyre looks like. Another example of art from Mesopotamia is the Lama Deity:

This is a sculpture of a man with a bulls body.
The art form most used in Mesopotamia were sculptures, mostly everything that resembles art that was taken from Mesopotamia was a sculpture. But like the lyre another art form is musical instruments.

Exemplary:
It is important to study art from the past because people can learn what type of materials were used back in the old days, and also what type of beliefs and symbols people had and used.

The form of writing Mesopotamian people used was called cuneiform.
Cuneiform is a type of writing where people take a wedge like tool and carve into clay, metal, wax and other substances, to make words, symbols, pictures, etc.
The people that used this form of writing were scribes, scribes were basically the only people in Mesopotamia who knew how to write.
The purpose of writing in Mesopotamia was to record daily events, trade, astronomy, and literature.

Exemplary:
I think that the effectiveness is not that good, the writing takes way to long and even if you have memorized the letters, it will still take forever to write this small and write long phrases. This would also be not very effective in the means of communication because like I said it takes forever.
My message that I wrote is below. Encase you cant read it it says THIS IS WEIRD.
