This movie is a classic. This movie came out in 1968. By becoming out in 1968 the film makers had to assume what the future would be like in their spacecrafts and technology. Although their space knowledge wasn't what it is today they still did a great job. This was a very different movie than any others, it was the first of its generation and is considered one of the better films of the 20th century. In the movie the pilots on the spacecraft are set to go to Jupiter, this is a really big reach because so human occupation spacecraft has made in past the moon. The furthest something has traveled is the voyager which is currently past Neptune, that was launched decades ago and is still going. You can really tell how old the movie is because of the uncertainty, most of what they portray in the movie is still not achievable even in today's technological state.

This movie was very unique. I believe this because the entire movie takes place in space except for the last minute. It is really interesting to see what happened in space in desperate situations. In the movie Sandra Bullock and George Clooney are the two astronauts in the movie and they are at a space station. They run into trouble when they realize they have hundreds of tons of debris coming at them. Once they find out the news they try to pack up and go inside, but the debris came to fast and it started to get interesting. Once the Debris hits they get separated and Clooney ends up not making it, Sandra is left all alone without communication with Houston. She has to end up taking a Chinese space craft in order to return home. Once she is home she has more difficulty, when she landed in the water she deployed the door and the ship sank. she end up making it up and lived happily ever after.

This may be one of the best movies ever made. It is so good because it is a true story, a true unbelievable story. In it Tom hanks and other astronauts dream about going to the moon. One calm night at his house he receives news saying that he has been selected for the Apollo 13 mission to the moon. As excited as he is, his wife is not, there had been failures before and she was worried about him surviving. In order to prepare for the journey they must go through trial runs in a simulator. After some time they have mastered their objective. Although they got it down, Ken Mattingley was exposed to measles and was unable to continue the mission. They end up replacing him with Swigert. He was young and talented. The mission starts off as a success but quickly after they leave the atmosphere they run into their troubles. Once the troubles come it becomes clear that they will not be able to land on the moon. During their misfortunes, Mattingley comes to the rescue and helps them out from Houston. In the end they make it home to their families. It was soon after the united states stopped going to the moon, although Apollo-13 did not land on the moon it is one of the most remembered mission behind Armstrong and all of them.

T-Hess, for your Apollo blogs, I was intent on you blogging each night after watching each section of the film as a way to create long term memories by reflection. This would inevitably create three separate blogs, by doing one large entry you show that this was done at a later date, defeating our the purpose. As you move forward into university, remember, short term memory requires you to repeatedly learn and expose your thoughts to the new material. Many study sessions beats one cram night by orders of magnitude in retention. This is what brain science is showing us. . .
