2. Community empowerment (training and volunteering)

b.      Recognizing our federal counterparts are phenomenal and that is the key to getting the work done. How will we adapt when we lose these people?

                                                              i.      Silver lining is that this is a testament to the good work that has been done over the past 5 years. We cannot afford them to unravel- getting them back would be nearly impossible.

b.      Partners are showing up in new ways- while funding is still trickling there is uncertainty for what that may look like into the future. All partners are recognizing the importance of this.

This is done by creating capacity! Creating positions for Tribal Liaisons, for example, like DNR.

- Higher institutional: SO MANY barriers to what we are trying to do in general. Working with Indigenous Peoples is one of those many barriers

b.      Hesitancy in in decisions by leaders because of the uncertainty.

c.      Emotional experience of uncertainty and impacts to individuals. Greater workload, stop-work orders,  and managing what that means for agencies and most importantly the individuals that drive this work.

d.      The need to show up differently in place-based collaboratives and communities and acknowledging the “rug being pulled out” feeling associated with trickle-down impacts.

e.      How do we help and be there with what we have. Being intentional about being efficient with our collaboratives so our impact can still be at the local level. Pushing on pathways for funding within the risk- see the need for upfront funding.

f.        When funding is cut, the first thing to go is communication. How to communicate all the aspects of natural resource are inextricably tied.

b.      Consolidation is many ways the reality. How do we do this intentionally.

a.      People came together in collaboratives when there was an identified collaborative need. These needs prevail.

b.      With challenges through all the change, looking to the silver lining of where the opportunities lie to rebuild something better.

c.      Gatherings (like this one) are essential in these uncertain times. We need places without barriers for people to come together.

d.      Going back to the communities- there is room to ask for more of them, more of an exchange, and we think communities are open to that. Capitalizing on how fired these communities are right now.

e.      Are we collectively unprepared? Where can we streamline on our strengths as agencies to support us all in these trying times.

f.        Moving at the speed of trust+ assuming good intentions

Remaining barriers: funding.

Bold idea: Forward funding. Support conservation finance.
