-The course is a 6 week course.

-It is a pass no pass course.

-Participants earn 10 hours of professional development.

-Modality:  Virtual on Canvas

-Frequency: 3 cohorts per year in Fall, Winter and Spring

This course aligns with key concepts, dispositions, and performance areas as defined in the California Early Childhood Educator Competencies.

After successfully completing this course, the participants will: 

-Understand the value and benefits of inclusive practices.  

-Gain an understanding of the legal mandates including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).  

-Recognize the role of Culture, Diversity, and Equity in early childhood education. 

-Gain an understanding of Universal Design for Learning tools and practices to enhance early childhood teaching and learning environments.

Elibility/Audience

• All providers, priority registration will be given to QSLA Providers and QSLA CSPP Providers

It is practice based, team simulated professional development. With the goal of building organizational capacity to implement and sustain inclusion and inclusion practices.

Team Simulated Coaching Topics May Include

•Analyzing aggregated child assessment data to inform curriculum planning

•Supporting inclusive practices

•Developing and supporting a system of developmental, behavioral (Ages and Stages Questionnaire) and health screenings

Who can participate in TSC?

• Must be a QSLA CSPP Providers

• Coaches,

• Site managers

• Directors

• Coordinators and

• Interdisciplinary teams

•It is a locally designed practice based coaching model, it  provides direct coaching supports to teaching teams.

What teaching teams are eligibile?

• California State Preschool Classroom (CSPP) that are also QSLA Providers

• Classrooms with many children with disabilities

• Classrooms that need addtional support to implement inclusive classroom practices

LACOE's Mobile UnitsHope on Wheels is available for our QSLA Partnered Sites. The mobile unit is a recreational vehicle that have been converted to promote the inclusion of children with special needs into the general education setting. It can be used for the following activities: meetings, trainings and recruitment events. It has the following amenities:

·       Technology, including an office space and indoor and outdoor big screen monitors and audio

·       Furnishings and materials to function as a mini-indoor or outdoor classroom environment

·       An exam room for vision and hearing screenings  

The unit is wheelchair accessible, complete with a wheelchair lift.

This unit travels to Regional Centers, Local Education Agencies, childcare centers and other identified areas to reach families and children.
