Welcome to Tiny Turtles Montessori!

Tiny Turtles Montessori is a small and nurturing nursery school catering to children aged 1 year through to 8 years. We follow the full Montessori curriculum and seamlessly blend it with traditional elements, making the transition into a traditional primary school easy for your child.

Located on the border of Kambanji and Chisipite at 61 A Drew Road, our school is a safe, stimulating, and supportive environment where every child can thrive.

We are open Monday to Thursday from 7:15am to 4pm and on Fridays from 7:15am to 12:30pm during the school term. During school holidays, we operate by appointment.

Our classes include:

Starfish Class(3months-1year)

**Turtle Class** (Ages 1-2)

**Seahorse Class** (Ages 2-3)

**Dolphin Class - Grade 00** (Ages 3-4)

**Whale Class - Grade 0** (Ages 4-5)

**Stingray Class - Grade 1-2&3 (Ages 6-8)

Turtle Class (Ages 1-2):

Laying the Foundation for Lifelong Learning

The Turtle Class is the very foundation of your child's journey through our school. This class is 100% Montessori, focusing on practical life and fine motor development. Our little turtles are immersed in a nurturing environment where they learn to recognize numbers 1, 2, and 3, as well as colors and shapes.

We place a strong emphasis on sensory play, which is a daily part of the children's activities. Sensory play is crucial for developing multiple senses and expanding vocabulary, as it allows children to explore and understand the world around them in a hands-on way.

Our dedicated staff ensures that each child's individual needs are met, fostering a love of learning and independence from an early age.

In the Seahorse Class, we are dedicated to providing a full Montessori education with a small fusion of traditional elements. At this age, Montessori education focuses on fostering independence, developing fine motor skills, and enhancing vocabulary. Our approach emphasizes hands-on learning, where children are encouraged to explore and engage with their environment through carefully designed activities.

Montessori teachings include:

**Practical Life Skills**: Activities like pouring, spooning, and buttoning that help children develop coordination and self-reliance.

**Sensorial Activities**: Exercises that help children refine their senses and understand concepts such as size, shape, color, and texture.

**Language Development**: Building vocabulary through storytelling, conversations, and interactive language games.

**Mathematics**: Introducing basic mathematical concepts through concrete materials that help children understand numbers and quantities.

In addition to the Montessori curriculum, we also focus on hand-eye coordination, which is crucial for many daily tasks and future learning.

In our Grade 00 class, we blend Montessori principles with traditional learning methods. This combination allows children the freedom to explore and learn at their own pace while ensuring that they are well-prepared for the next step into the "big class," Grade 0.

We follow a structured curriculum that focuses on the development of fine motor skills. This includes activities to ensure that children develop a proper pincer grip, gain control in coloring, and recognize sounds and numbers. Additionally, we emphasize understanding number values to build a strong foundation in numeracy.

Our classroom environment is designed to foster independence, creativity, and a love for learning. We provide a nurturing space where children can thrive, explore, and discover the joy of learning.

In our big Grade 0 class, we blend Montessori principles with traditional education to create a seamless transition for children into Grade 1. This unique fusion enables our students to experience the best of both worlds, fostering an environment that encourages independence while adhering to a structured curriculum.

**Grade 0**: As children move to the big class, we enhance their learning experience with a combination of Montessori materials and traditional worksheets. This stage emphasizes gross motor development, cognitive growth, language acquisition, music, and social-emotional skills.

**Whale Class**: In this final stage before Grade 1, we concentrate on refining fine motor skills, developing literacy through the Montessori Pink Series and Jolly Phonics program, and reinforcing numeracy concepts. Children engage in a variety of written activities to build their confidence and competence in academic tasks.

We are thrilled to offer an exciting variety of extra activities for everyone to enjoy! These include Tumble Bugs - Gross motor development, music, library sessions, sensory play, dance and movement, as well as arts and crafts.

Swimming is for Term 1 and 3.

Tiny Turtles Montessori takes children from as young as 12m to 8 years of age.  

We may take a little while to get back to you, but please do bare with us!  We are very active and hands on with the children in our care every day!  We aim to respond to your application within two weeks.

If your little one is placed onto the waiting list, please note that we will be continually checking back to your little one's application.  There is no need to chase us up :) We will most certainly be in touch if a place does arise for your little one at any time! xx
