         <description><![CDATA[<p>Throughout the abundance of monuments in our nation’s capital, Washington D.C., there is a common theme of democracy, freedom, and historical preservation, where “each tells a story” (Sacks). </p><p><br></p><p>The true necessity for monuments is in their power “in conveying historical truth” allowing different chances “for dialogue in public spaces” (Sandage). </p><p><br></p><p>Truthfully, the importance of allowing a monument to stand is to preserve the past even if it isn’t up to our nation’s standards, since the danger is in if “we ever forget about it” (Nikos-Rose).</p>]]></description>
