92 percent of the country made less than 1200 a year. Because of the mass immigration towards the US many people were forced to the slums. 4-8 people were shoved to fit in small rooms with no light.

Jane Addams was apart of the Hull House. The Hull House offered a mini community to those in the slums. They offered a nursery, gym, and a community kitchen for those in need.
