Usually when in command of a Army unit, your men will be armed with the common E-11, DLT19's, Thermal Detonators and other common Imperial weapons. Take into account the weapons weaknesses and strengths, such as having a DLT19 armed Trooper take a good position for mowing down hostiles.

As expected, common Naval Officers will be in possession of a Imperial I-Class Star Destroyer or other models / ships, though the ISD-I is one of the more known vessels. When in combat, look at the weaponry of your ship and other things such as capabilities, speed etc. Have Interdictors stay at the back and play passive if you use them, and push with your more armed and tank-like ships. Don't let your enemy get the upper hand by advancing because it forces you to be defensive.

Usually, you'll find yourself commanding TIE/LNs (Fighters), TIE/SAs (Bombers) and TIE/INs (Interceptors). When commanding these, task them with their intended purposes. Coordinate well and don't have your Bomber squadron rush the enemy or your Interceptor try bring down a Capital ship. Know your ships limits and weaknesses along with it's strengths. Have TIE Fighters go for a full assault. Send TIE Bombers with escorts to the hostile capital ships.
