The Battle of Lexington and Concord.

People in the 13 colonies came together to try to become independent from the British, the British wanted to stop this rebellion before it became too serious. To stop it they decided to march onto the field, they mostly lost and decided to retreat back to Boston.

The significance of this event is that it was the first battle that started the american revolution.

2nd Continental Congress

Delegates from the 13 colonies came together to technically form a government for America. There wasn't much power in congress yet, but they issued things such as paper currency, the continental army etc.

The significance of this is that the new country made a goverment and an army, before they decided to vote on it on July 2nd.

The Battle of Bunker Hill.

The british were surrounded by Military forces. They wanted to keep control of their cities and there ports, so they decided to try to take control of two hills one being Bunker Hill. The Americans wanted to protect it so they defended it.

The Significance of doing this even though the American eventually lost, is that they could hold up against the British while having less than them.

Declaration of Independence

Thomas Jefferson had started the outline of the Declaration of Independence. Some people thought that some colonies weren't ready for it, but 12 of the 13 colonies decided that they should do it. After it was made John Dulap made 200 copies of it, and the first person to sign it was John Hancock.

The significance of this is that this was the official act that seperated it and made it independant.

Battle of Long Island

This was one of the most important wars, after the British lost Boston they set their eyes on New York City. They attacked american soldiers at Long Island, and took it over as Americans were outnumbered by 27,000 British soldiers.

The significance of this was that they realized it wouldn't be an easy battle, and they also lost New York City.

Washington Crosses Deleware

On Christmas day George Washington crosses the Deleware River it took 11 hours so that they would go unnoticed to launch a suprise attack.

The significance of this is that they were able to fight in the battle of Trenton and win it.

The Battle of Saratoga

Burgoyne tried flanking the Americans, however they predicted it and was able to stop it as he moved his troops that way. The british men were losing and Burgoyne decided to surrender to General Gates.

The significance of this is that this is the turning point of the war, because when they won France decided to give military support to Americans.

Alliance with France

The Alliance with France gave financial and military support to the United States. They thought allying with Americans would be the right choice and would benefit them in the future.

The significance of this is that it promoted trade between them, helped the Americans to win the war with their support by supplying them with supplies.

Battle of Yorktown

The Franco-American trapped a big British military force n Yorktown, this caused them to have to surrender which ended military operations.

The significance of this was that after this happened this is what pushed them to sign the treaty of Paris.

Treaty of Paris

The Treaty was signed by the U.S. and British, to end the American Revolution war and give America their independence. Along with granting them a lot of western land.

The significance of this is that they recognized the U.S. as independent and ended the long running war.
