The pathways of UAL 3 have played a significant role in helping me develop both knowledge and practical skill within the musical landscape, especially since I entered the course with very little prior experience. Each unit has pushed me to explore areas of music I had never engaged with before. For example, band practice has been one of the most valuable experiences for me. Working closely with others in a group setting has taught me how to communicate more effectively, listen to different perspectives, and adapt to the needs of the ensemble. Because of this, my cooperative and interpersonal skills have grown noticeably, and I now feel much more confident collaborating with other musicians.

UAL 3 has also broadened my understanding of music technology. This is an area I still find challenging, mainly because I had no experience with it before starting the course. Even so, I’ve discovered that I genuinely enjoy learning about the technical side of music production. Although I’m still developing my confidence, I find the subject interesting and can see how these skills will be extremely useful for the career path I hope to pursue in the future. The exposure I’ve had so far has motivated me to keep improving and to become more comfortable with the equipment and software used in the industry.

In musicianship class, I performed a solo piano piece titled A Walk in the Park, which I have been preparing for my Grade 5 piano exam. Performing alone in front of others was a very nerve‑racking experience, but it turned out to be incredibly valuable. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me build confidence in my ability to perform under pressure. Through this task, I gained a deeper understanding of what it feels like to present a solo performance, and it gave me insight into how much preparation, focus, and emotional control is required. Overall, it was a challenging but rewarding moment that contributed to my growth as a musician.
