1. Terry Fox was inspired to run across Canada by a 12-year-old boy who went through the exact same thing Terry went through, and he also lost his leg.
Anne Frank was a trouble maker at school but she was also an amazing author
who wanted to make a book when she was older.

2. Anne Frank and Terry Fox both died a long time ago but there legacy still lives on, to this day. Terry fox's heroic acts were by choice but Anne Frank had no choice but to go into hiding.

3. I can infer that Terry Fox had a horrible time running through Quebec and he wanted to quit everyday but the thought of kids suffering in the hospital kept him running.

4. Terry Fox's purpose in life was to inspire people, to run across Canada, and to raise money for cancer research. Terry Fox was also made to show people that cancer is real, and cancer is bad, but we can beat cancer.

5. I think Terry Fox's documentary was better because it showed all different places around Canada like Ontario, and Quebec, but Anne Frank's documentary mostly showed her huddled up in a tiny room for more than a year. I also think terry's documentary was better because it had more, and clearer pictures and videos.

I had just walked downstairs, it was 4:30 A.M. and my mom was still not home. The beds me and Ellen slept in were perfectly made, as if we never slept there. I looked out the window and I saw a moving black object, instantly I knew it as my mom. I put my shoes on and rushed outside my mom saw me, she tried to turn but she winced in pain."Mom" I called. "What happened? "I was so anxious to get home I started running, but I tripped on a root and I think my ankle is broken." My mother opened her mouth to speak but her heart sank when she saw the parcel Peter gave to M.R. Rosen to deliver to the Ingaborg. It must have fallen out of his pocket when he tripped on the front step. "This may all have been for nothing," said my mom. At the time I had no idea what she meant by this, but now I know. I could see the look of worry on my mom's face so I offered to take the package and deliver it to my uncle. My mom hesitated at first but she had no choice, this was a matter of life or death for many people. She told me to put the parcel in a basket and put some bread, cheese, and an apple along with it, I tried to hide the parcel as best as I could under a napkin but I knew if someone really looked inside they would find it. Off I was on probably one of the most dangerous missions in my life but I just didn't know it yet.

Along long time ago, before the creation of human beings there were only cats and dogs. They lived in harmony for thousands of years. They both had one leader, the cat Queen, and the dog king. They were both very selfless, kind, smart and, strategic. The normal cats and dogs liked each other but there leaders couldn't stand each other, they were all ways getting into arguments. But they decided to put there arguments aside for the greater good of their kind. About 30 years later humans were created, and all cats and dogs liked them, but now with people involved cats and dogs couldn't share or come to a agreement . With their kind getting frustrated with the other species their leaders decided this was the perfect time to settle their, "disagreements". So they both finally agreed on something, they agreed to go to war. The war lasted many years and so many animals died who shouldn't have. Then finally when the Dogs were on the verge of winning, humans stepped in and stopped the war, and that is why Dogs hate Cats.

As Sally flew down the steep mountain passing all the competition as usual, she noticed something in the distance. Was it a rock? Was it another competitor? Whatever it was she had never seen it before and she had raced on this hill plenty of times before. As she got closer, she started to make out the shape of an animal. It was at least bigger than Hunter, her dog. She finally arrived and realized it was a baby fawn. She told Hunter to stop but he already had, he was sniffing and licking the baby fawn. When Sally examined the fawn closer, she realized that it has a gunshot wound. Someone must have shot her but then realized it is not hunting season. The wound was just in her log so she wouldn't die from it, but she will need that leg to run from predators. Four racers just passed her and she wanted to get back in the race but the fawn was more important. She grabbed a first aid kit that was supposed to be for Hunter, then she bandaged up the fawn's injury and brought her to the woods so no one would hit her with their sled. She told herself that the fawn would be okay and just as she was about to leave, she saw her mom and knew everything was going to be fine.

"Wake up, wake up, we need to go," screamed my step mother frantically. "Get up, they're here!" I jumped out of bed worried and confused, then I heard explosions and instantly realized the reality. The Nazis were coming. We needed to go. I raced out of my room after my tall ginger step mom. She moved a dresser and appeared to be in a secret apartment. It was dark and cramped but for some reason I felt safer here with my step mom, then in Sweden where there are no Nazis. The next couple minutes were dead silent. When I was sure the Nazis had left I asked my mother were we were. She looked surprised to here me talk so soon, maybe even scared. "Were safe," she responded. "And i'm sorry." "what do you mean?" Before I knew it she had flicked on the light and there were Nazis covering every exit. They knocked me out and put me in a bag. I woke up a day later to a dark dirty cramped room with three kids all sleeping at least I thought. "Hi there, i'm Sunny," said a pale blond girl that was sleeping in the bunk below me. "If your wondering where we are, none of us know. There are no windows or doors we just know a man delivers very little food to us everyday. We're not even sure how we got in here." "That was not what I was wondering but thanks." "Well, then what were you wondering?" "I," BOOM. Before I could speak there were explosions. and big ones, but they were different than the ones I had heard earlier. Suddenly half our wall crumbled out of nowhere. "Come with us" said a firm steady voice I saw a leaf his helmet, and felt safer than ever before. He rushed us out into a helicopter, and from there I realized I was trapped in a concentration camp and the peace makers had rescued me.

Why only two minutes?

Why only two minutes of silence? Why not a hour, a day, a week? Why not five years, the amount of time the brave soldiers were fighting for our flag. Two minutes is not enough time to reflect on how courageous all the soldiers were. They ran to their deaths for a leaf and two stripes, for our independence. They gave their lives, so we could have ours. They fought for years in disgusting rat infested trenches, covered in lice with deadly diseases. Some died from mustard gas, the first chemical warfare ever used. The effects were horrifying.

They stayed in tunnels for months, upon months, upon months, fearful what will happen to them. Will they live to see their families again? Will they ever feel the sun’s warmth again? Will they live to see sunlight another day? The wives awaited a letter that could tear their family apart. An innocent little letter could bring so much harm.

Why don’t we give more than just silence? We can give our respect to the veterans, our prayers to the families who have lost a loved one, and we can remember the brave courageous soldiers who gave their lives for Canada. Not only did they fight for Canada but they fought for world peace. This is why we can give more than two minutes on November eleventh to remember the soldiers who gave their lives, and the ones who are still with us today.

1. I think a Jew would react frustrated. They would think the director had no right to make a comedy out of such a big part of their history, and rightfully so. But a German could also be offended by this because there are a lot of scenes that show how tortures the Nazis were. I think as a Canadian we overlook these factors and just enjoy the movie.

2. This film is a narrative because it has a plot, an ending, and a climax. The plot is about a little boy and his dad. They're kidnapped by Nazis soldiers and brought to a concentration camp. Guido, the father does everything in his power to convince his son this it's all a game and they're winning. The climax is in the death
scene. The father is spotted by a Nazis soldier on look out. The soldier is
ordered to take him to an alley and shoot him there. The soldier did as he was
told and executed Guido. Finally, the ending had Joshua, the little boy come out
of the cabinet where he was hiding. As the Americans invaded the empty camp one soldier riding in a tank spotted him and brought him on. When Joshua was riding out in the tank, he saw his mother, so the soldier helped him out and Joshua ran to his mom.

3. I liked the film for all these reasons. I think that the script was written with a great understanding of World War two. I also think certain scenes, especially the scene where he translates for the guard, was brilliantly written. His quick thinking
convinced his son that this was all just a fun game. Guido was an amazing actor
and how fast he thinks on his feet was impressive. I also think the boy used
great facial expressions for someone his age and he really convinced the
viewers that he truly believed his father. This film had great technical value,
especially in death scene. How they made the sounds and let the viewer infer
that he had died was a good use of technical features. They just gave us the
sound and let the soldier walk out in a hurry. They also used effective filming techniques in the scene where Dora finds out that her family is still alive. You hear them talking and then the music starts. She hears her son and then they zoom in on her face filled with so many different emotions.

4. I think this is an appropriate title for the movie because in the start the movie is a comedy and everything is going well for Guido. But then half way through the movie took a dark turn, when Guido and Joshua were captured by German soldiers. But then in the end the movie becomes a little bit happier in the last scene when Joshua runs to his mom with beautiful scenery behind them. So I think the happy parts over weighs the sad parts, and make this a good title for this film.

5. I think this isn't an effective cover because it doesn't have any hints in it about what will happen during the film, so the viewer may not be curious enough to watch it. But it could also draw kids in because it has a kid on the front too, and the cover gives the impression that this is going to just be another typical happy
ending. Overall, I think this isn't the best approach for advertising this film.

Another way we use patterning in real life is when we want to solve a Rubik's cube we have to use algorithms once again.
3. The third way we use patterning in everyday scenarios is when we want to fix something mechanical we have to know patterns like: cut red and blue but never touch the orange wire.

I said "wow" when Marco, our neighbor told me about the Chinese postal system. He said that China has three classes of mail. They are first, second, and priority. Swift, young foot-runners carry second-class mail between stations that are three miles apart. That way, a ten day journey can be completed in 24-hours. Horses are used to carry the first class mail, but the priority mail is the most amazing. Only the imperial, majesty uses priority mail and that can be carried 250 to 300 miles a day.

"Go fetch me some water, water girl." My overseer called out to me.
I heard his name is Moses. As a water girl I hear a lot of things I'm probably not supposed to hear. It's like I am invisible to anybody with a relation to the royal family. For example, last week I heard "Moses" say that his mother was a Jew. I had assumed it was just a rumor created by the guards to create drama, after all, their job is boring.

The next day started normal as always. I grabbed my water jug and walked out to the field. I walked by everybody before going to my post. As I was walking by, I noticed an unfamiliar face. I glanced back and saw Moses. But instead of controlling us he was working at our level. Once the guards had left, I went over and offered him some water just trying to start a conversation. "Thank you, I'm so thirsty." He replied.
"So, how did you drop so many levels in just two days?" I asked.
Probably to soon I realized after I said it.
"Well, a lot can happen in two days." He replied as he turned around and got back to work.
It was as if the thought of it was still bitter to him.

I couldn't sleep that night not only because our beds are made out of straw on top of sand and stone, but because I had this really crazy Idea. I wanted to run away from bondage to a nearby village. Once again, I overheard some guards talking about a small village with fruits, veggies, and bread.

The next morning I waited for the guards to move on and I walked over to Moses. He gave me a bit of an eye roll as if to say, oh, you again. I ignored it and handed him some water and explained my plan. "If the royal gong was sounded every guard leaves there post and comes to the pharaoh's aid. We will only have about two minutes to steal a chariot and get as far away as possible." He seemed surprised that I would ask someone I met yesterday to run away with him. I probably would be to, but once I went over the plan a couple more times he agreed.

We talked a little bit more and agreed to execute the plan that night. The earlier the better. The rest of that day seemed like an eternity. After the day finally ended, we decided to meet up just outside the men's tent. It was risky for me to be there, but it was the closest available spot to the city entrance. He told me he had just finished talking to a friend he still had that was very close to pharaoh. He said he could buy us about a minute in a half before they find out he "tripped" and sounded the gong. A little less than we hoped for, but it would have to do.

"GONG!"
Even though I was expecting it, it still startled me a little bit. This was our chance. We saw the guards leave their post and bolted towards the chariots. Every second was just more time for the guards to get back. We hopped on the first chariot we saw. I looked at Moses and he looked back at me and that was when the reality hit us. Neither of us could ride a chariot.

"Getiup, getiup." I yelled frantically.
"Seize them!" I heard a guard call. This was it. Not only will I never be free, but I would be put into the fenced in work area and be given extra work and a higher quota. Right than, when a guard was about to grab me everything went black. Then I heard a familiar voice call "Julian,
breakfast is ready. Wow you really slept in today!"
