I then played a part of the guitar melody over Oliver's bass chord drone.

Furthermore, this section we have written in 4/4, the rest of the song is in 6/8.

This audio is an audio of me playing the song solo at home with an electric guitar through an amp, and a microphone.

The snare sound was made by holding the dynamic 57 at the strings on the acoustic guitar and hitting them with my fingers flat, and holding them down so the strings didn't ring out.

We also discovered that if when we do the second intro section where we hit our instruments to create an Am drone, if you hit the guitar further away from the pickups, in the corner of the guitar where your arm usually rests, the tone is the most consistent and dynamic.

We are hoping to be able to perform this track in the Performance Workshop Class next Thursday.

I quite like that this sound is a bit more subtle and less harsh sounding, therefore, leaving room for emphasis of the heartbeat sound effect that Oliver is creating on bass.

The concept of this EP is going to be very innovative, with the limitation of any instruments except bass, guitar and vocals. Therefore, there is going to be a lot of experimentation needed to come up with ways to fill songs/spaces in tracks with such limited resources.

By week 4 I would like to have narrowed down all of this exploration into 2 clear innovative ideas that I am going to explore. I would also like to work out my press release project/concept that I am going to link to the tracks I submit - perhaps a concept, innovative EP that features the tracks.

My first track is going to be a live performed original song with a band, of which, I wrote the instrumental part (chords, rhythm).

The innovative aspect of this track is a combination of my limited use of pedals and the sound effects I make with my guitar itself, rather than the pedals. For instance, there are parts where I hit the body of my guitar, roll the tone completely up and down and the way I use my right hand to create different tones when finger playing.

Track Two:

My second track was going to be an original track recorded on Logic, however, in my next post, I explain my new track 2 submission, and how this is going to be innovative on guitar, and why I decided to change to this idea for my final submission.

My other SMART Target was was to develop upon how I am innovating in track One. This is definitely clear and apparent that I have done this when I watch back our performance videos from then until now. Over the weeks I have found new ways of creating soundscape and sound effects with my guitar, through hitting the body of the guitar to create a drone effect, to using my tone knob to create drastic tone differences without altering my pedals.
