As a kid Edward dated a non-Jewish German woman, after the Nuremburg Laws defined such an act as illegal “racial mixing.” A jealous  suitor of this girlfriend snitched on Edward to the Gestapo. Edward was arrested and sent to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, he spent six months in solitary confinement. September 15, 1938 he was released.
