The Obama administration recognized these issues, as outlined previously, and therefor included guidelines to ensure actions was taken to "take immediate action to eliminate the harassment, prevent its recurrence, and address its effects" in his "Dear Colleague Letter". While there was success in this, it was removed in 2017 with the Trump administration. The amount of needed evidence now proved to be more than most students would be able to obtain, making it hard for students to stay protected. However, with recent cases being brought to light, the public is now more aware of this issue as a whole.
