Stalin's Great purges were for those who opposed Stalin and as well ordinary people. Stalin killed people, religious leaders were imprisoned while churches were closed, and also he sent over 20 million people to labor camps where almost half of them died.

3. What Stalin used to carry out his terror was his own cults to help him out ,as well he used the secret police to arrest people who opposed of him and he also used them to kill those opposed of him.

Stalin took over peoples farms and animals to produce food for "his people" . people who didn't listen were killed or their animals were killed and crops were destroyed and not even used to feed the state.
2. Stalin started this because he wanted to get rid of the people who opposed him to not possibly ruin his power.The effects and consequences that the people of the soviet Union and Ukraine had to go through was that many people died due to opposing him and as well killed because some people wanted to take power in the soviet and since he didn't want to loose his power he would kill them but not say it was him.
