I, too, sing America.

I am the darker brother.

They send me to eat in the kitchen

When company comes,

But I laugh,

And eat well,

And grow strong.

Tomorrow,

I’ll be at the table

When company comes.

Nobody’ll dare

Say to me,

“Eat in the kitchen,”

Then.

Besides,

They’ll see how beautiful I am

And be ashamed—

I, too, am America.

He still grows strong and eats healthy things. I basically liked the whole poem. Bu the last line I liked was " Tomorrow, I'll be at the table when company comes. Nobody'll dare to say to me, " eat in the kitchen." I liked that because at first his parents and siblings weren't letting him eat with them. Its explaining that just because he may look different her or she can be kind people just because they have different skin or believe in some thing different then you there still people that can show love. When they made fun of them in there past or way back when people treated them wrong.Soon they will feel sorry of what they did to them or there states or countries past. You can be poor or judged or lost your family. Don't judge people if this happened to them. They can have a future that bring good.

I also think that when it says "I am the darker brother" it is saying that he is black, and that his family is treating him badly.
