Our teachers are crushing Jan and sharing ideas/lesson plans. They are submitting them weekly/monthly.  Our reading coach has provided additional training and supports when needed.

Challenges 
Implementing Jan Plan for new teachers and ex ed/intervention for flood in support. We are finding it hard to provide staff development for Jan Plan when so much time for PD has been spent on the new VSCIP format and Deeper Learning focus. Another ongoing challenge continues to be funding for small group text. It's amazing how little $5,000 can get you. Our hope is that HCPS will continue to think about providing one elearning resource for both reading and math. We have to find balance and patience with the new teacher who is receiving first year training within a month's time. 

Strength
New teachers are eager to learn and receptive to training and feedback.

It is important to monitor the plans by looking at the movement of students based on grouping assignments.

For our higher level guided reading groups students are using their books of choice to practice skills coming down from whole group, instead of teachers picking the text for them. Students respond well because the texts are what they are interested in reading. We have fully embraced reading response journals.
