During the lesson, the tutor told me a lot of useful things and the application, although not cheap, is definitely necessary for me in the future. I really enjoyed modeling the shapes. Since I have never used such applications before, it is a little difficult for me to figure out how and what works. But I like that even if you don't know all the functions, you can safely use the application. And I noticed that I do not have problems with the perception of a figure in space and its volume.
Mixamo is a website with 3D shapes and where you can upload your work

Often in the mythologies of different countries (and specifically in African, Indian and Native American mythology) there is mention of spirits, a giant turtle and a huge ocean. The ocean is either just a part of stories, or it was a form of the world before the appearance of land and the first people.
The only place where nothing like this has yet been encountered is Slavic mythology.

It is very interesting to compare the difference of mythologies in their formation. For example, African and American mythologies have similarities in a large number of tribes and the difficulty of finding information, since both of these mythologies have very ancient roots. Only if African mythology is more focused on the causes of human behavior, rules and spirits, then American mythology refers more to the connection of man with nature and focuses on myths about existing animals.

Slavic mythology was very surprised by the presence of a hierarchy. It's not that this is some kind of unusual division, but I haven't seen a clear distinction before in mythology.
Hindu mythology struck me with the fact of modification. I knew that myths are constantly changing due to various factors, but the presence of a well-known so-called "backstory" is really amazing.

Folklore is very extensive, so you need to choose a more familiar direction. Most likely, I will take mythology, since this is exactly the part that is most suitable for my project. I will use the cultural part of folklore rather as secondary references.

By the way, I need to think about exactly how I want to visualize the information I found. Initially, I planned to create characters based on the distinctive features of the mythology of different countries, in which there would be references, but mostly the design would be based on my feeling. Now I'm thinking about using the creatures of mythology themselves and drawing them.
In general, I need to decide what I want more, to show my vision of mythology or mythology in my style.

I can use my idea and impression to create collages. This idea will fit much better into this format.

Chinese mythology was pleasantly pleased. In Chinese mythology, I came across the same thing as in Indian mythology. In both of these countries, the mythology originates from the previous forms of beliefs of their country. But unlike Hindu mythology, Chinese seemed to me more mundane. In Chinese mythology, there were many links between the material, real world and mythology. The influence of mythology was also more pronounced in the traditions. By the way, the great turtle appeared here, though not as a key character.

As a result, I decided to take Scandinavian mythology instead of a large number of European countries to study, since it is more popular.
So, the coolest mythology turned out to be the Scandinavian one. I like the way they demonstrate ideas characteristic of mythology and religion, such as the afterlife, the beginnings of the world and its end. Scandinavian mythology is full of all sorts of unusual ideas, I like the fact that it is at the same time one of the most absurd and at the same time harmonious mythologies. This contrast is of great interest. And in addition to all of the above, this is the first mythology where the world originated from a corpse.

Paleoasiatic mythology completes my list of studies. Well, this mythology surprised me with the abundance of connections with other peoples. Paleoasiatic mythology has many connections with the mythology of Native Americans, they have common motives of human connection with animals and spirits. And the late Paleoasiatic mythology has a connection with the Russian one and leaves many references in fairy tales about it.
In general, all the mythologies I studied in one way or another had many different interpretations and this was often due either to the fact that this mythology was widespread among different tribes, or because of the influence of religions and neighboring peoples. In general, mythologies demonstrate the culture of the past and the connections of different countries in a very interesting way.

Even in the middle of the study, I already see a clear pattern of all mythologies. Regardless of whether there are gods, spirits, demons or other mythical creatures in religion, there are always themes of human connection with the elements and animals. I find it funny that no matter what kind of mythology and aspects of spirituality take, there is always the foundation of human realities. This so vividly demonstrates that people cannot create something in isolation from their experience and that connections are very important to them, not only social, but also connections with something physical and material.

I decided to try a few different exercises. One of these exercises is ink drawing of various geometric shapes. The essence of the exercise is to draw a lot of simple shapes and then finish drawing things that will give meaning to the shapes. This exercise helps in developing brush control, as using a brush length makes it difficult to draw neat shapes. This exercise also gives you the opportunity to try to work with limitations and look for different exit options, which helps to develop imagination.
I liked this exercise because I was able to practice drawing clear shapes and distract myself by coming up with different ideas for shapes. Some drawings came up quickly, some are banal and obvious, but there are also abstract ones. The exercise is not difficult and helps a lot if you need to take your mind off serious planning.

Today I tried experimenting with materials to remember what and how to use it.

The first thing I noticed is how well the oil pastels blend. In general, if you use a cotton bud, you can get an acceptable result.

Next, I used oil pastels and watercolors. I remember that oil pastels have a water-repellent effect, but I wanted to try to cover the oil pastels. After tormenting the watercolor a little, I switched to pencils. The pencils gave the desired result and easily overlapped the oil pastels.

The next object of my experiments (tortures) were markers. I had not worked with them before, so I was very curious to see what I could do with them. At first, I just tried to blur them with water and used a cotton buds.

The cotton buds turned out to be a very useful tool in general. I've appreciated the possibilities of the cotton buds and I'm going to continue using this tool.

Further experiments with markers disappointed. The markers could not cover the oil pastels. The best way to use markers and oil pastels together is to create a background with markers and draw oil pastels on top.

I was not very willing to switch to dry pastels. Although pastel has many advantages, unfortunately it is very fragile and leaves a lot of dirt, which completely discourages me from dealing with this material. Despite my dislike, I still conducted a couple of experiments. I shaded the pastels and checked how they blended together. I also soaked the pastel and checked how it mixes with the watercolor. In general, I have not discovered anything new for myself, but practice will not be superfluous.

Where pastel has shown its best side is in working with ink. I like ink, but its disadvantage is that it is almost impossible to draw on top of it, but pastel copes well with this task. I also checked markers and oil pastels, but they couldn't beat dry pastels.

Since I had a little difficulty working out the characters, I decided to use the exercises to practice building bodies.

The first step is to draw various geometric shapes with ink, which will be the torso. Then, alternately, using different shapes, you need to draw the head and pelvis. When I received the pyramids of three figures, I began to draw their legs and arms, creating different poses. When the ink was dry, I finished drawing the shapes and put all the pieces together, getting different people.
The second exercise is similar to the previous one, but I decided to complicate the task for myself. If in the first exercise I did not put a clear frame on the shapes for building a figure, then in this exercise I decided to use only one geometric shape to build a shadow. The difficulty was that it was necessary to think about how to rotate and use the geometric shape without deforming it too much.
As a result, I got 4 people. Since they were very different from the previous ones, I came up with another way to work out the figure. Using markers, I can finish drawing human figures, while preserving their geometric bases.
