The first hackathon had 300 people from Venezuela to help with political and public health services. On the way to the rain forest where Ingrid was going to held, one of the men stepped on a land mine, his leg was blown off. Ingrid said "I felt at that moment that something inside of me was breaking and that I was being infected with his fear." While they held her captive, Ingrid felt depression, distrust, hatred and an urge to kill. Fear can be a powerful thing, but it can also cause us to do terrible things to others. Faith and hope is needed to have strength and power in times of fear.

One of the most important things that I learned in the video is that, there are a lot of stereotypes about Latinas. America Ferrera's directors and agent were discriminating and looking down on dreams because she was a Latina. Also, because of the bad things that were said about her, she came to the conclusion that her identity and who she was is the reason why the directors didn't cast her. Even thought people think of her this way she doesn't listen to them and she said that her identity is her superpower.

What I learned from Luis's speech is that many families looking for a better life is treated poorly upon reaching the US-Mexico border. They are separated from each other and are placed in detention centers that negatively impacts the children staying there. They have already experienced trauma throughout their journey to the US, and they are greeted with barely any freedom. These detention centers can cause depression, anxiety, stress etc. This isn't okay and it's important for children to be with their parents and experience the freedom they deserve, like any other US citizen. A better approach to this is providing campus-like buildings where everyone is not separated and can form a community with each other. Along with this, they are given access to buying food, go to work, and children being able to go to school. While this is happening, they can go through a process that makes them an official legal US citizen.
