Nicolas de Ovando served as the Governor of Hispaniola between 1502 and 1509. Diego Columbus From a very young age he had the opportunity to belong to the Spanish court as page of the prince Don Juan and after that the queen. Francisco Bobadilla was nobleman who served fighting against the Moors when Spain retook their country. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1492, Christopher Columbus visited the Island, and named it Hispaniola, or “Little Spain.” In 1822, the Haitian President marches his troops into the capital, Santo Domingo, and annexes it. In 1924, Constitutional government took control and the US forces withdraw. In 1930, General Rafael Leonidas Trujillo Molina established personal dictatorship. Following the overthrow of president Horacio Vazquez. In 1961, Trujillo was assassinated. 2012 was when Danilo Medina, the current president won the presidential election.</div>]]></description>

Dominican Catholicism is a mix of Roman Catholic traditions and African-rooted religions/ceremonies, of Santeria, and is widespread in the Dominican Republic. There are some small Baptist, Mormon and Jewish communities throughout the Dominican Republic as well.</div>]]></description>

In Dominican Republic they are Prone to earthquakes. The hurricane season is June - November. Flash floods and Landslides are because of all of the hurricanes. Power Outages are results of severe weather. Plus, they also get outbreaks. Like Rabies, because the population of wild dogs. Also, mosquitos can carry many diseases like dengue fever </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The wildlife in the Dominican Republic includes the Hispaniolan Solenodon (it is a nocturnal burrowing mammal, has a long flexible snout, and resembles a large shrew), dwarf Gecko (smallest lizard in world), rhinoceros iguana (threatened), frogs (large cap aud, tiny tree frogs), snakes (four types, non-venomous). Some of the animals that you can find in the Dominican Republic are: you’ll find the Hispaniolan parrot, Hispaniolan lizard cuckoo, purple Gallinule, pigeons (white-crowned, plain, scaly-naped), Dove, mangrove Cuckoo, nighthawk, swift, grey Kingbird, Loggerhead Kingbird, red-legged thrush, Yellowthroat, Roseate Spoonbill, Quail Doves, Killdeer, purple Gallinule, Hispaniolan Pewee, woodpecker. Endangered parrots (endemic) are the Sisserou parrot and the Jaco parrot.</div>]]></description>
