We value the wisdom of the community: This work mobilizes the wisdom of the community and those who have long been overlooked. This work uplifts the voices of those most impacted so that they are heard, championed and prioritized. There are always improvements to be made. Doing this work allows us to listen to those who are directly impacted and find solutions on how we can do better. Our communities need people who understand them, who can communicate with them, and who can relate to their needs. Until we get people with lived experience our system will always be challenging for those who need it most. Education and knowing comes from many ways, not just formal school. It's time to recognize people's worth and contribution.

We value preventative care that is culturally appropriate and fosters connectedness: This work prioritizes preventative healthcare and culturally appropriate care. Passion for the work we are doing and supporting members where they are at and what they need. CHWs do make a difference and have the skillset to support in a culturally appropriate manner. Proud of the work because it is making a difference and I see my family reflected in the families being supported. CHW supports pregnant farmworkers to improve their health outcomes.

We value looking at populations as a whole (including SDOH). CHWs can support upstream health care factors to prevent untoward downstream health outcomes.

We value community wellness, wisdom, empowerment, and collaboration: It is important to prioritize wellness. And, to utilize the wisdom IN communities to help us be well and healthy. This work should make people want to get up in the morning to support it because it centers health and wellness in communities and those in the community (promotores) who have trust and relationships and wisdom that traditional health care systems often lack.
