There are many kinds of pressures that social media puts people, specifically younger people, however one of the most common issue is body image. Ways body image is shown through social media is through instagram models or advertisements for products. These images or videos on a social media platform can influence you and your thoughts when it comes to your own body in a positive and negative way. A positive way it can influence you is it may push you to be a healthier version of yourself that lives a healthier and happier lifestyle. For example it can motivate you to exercise. It can also have a negative effect on you by making you feel unworthy or lowering your self esteem and self confidence. You may become obsessed with your body image and make unhealthy changes.

I feel that social media users tend to face the pressure to follow trends and be similar to others. This is why social media platforms such as Instagram are so often where trends start. The trending makeup look known as the "baddie"look , the ideal body type for women in the western world, or viral challenges are all are examples of trends in social media.

Something that stands out to me in social media is how people hold conversations with each other. People don't type big texts with lots of words, they send small messages with emojis and stuff. They communicate differently compared to a face to face conversation. I also feel like we receive a different kind of message with a different tone when texting compared to a real life conversation.

Also, for me, the social media a place to share out the things you do or same funny things that we found. A place to gain friends, happiness. I use WeChat the most. usually I use it for texting friends, family. When I found somethings interest I will share it out with friends.

There are many Instagram models and it puts pressure on young people to look a certain way or be as fit as these models. Many people believe that these images being portrayed so often in social media sites may create body image issues for younger kids and may lead to eating disorders or desire for plastic surgery/wanting to change how you look. On the other hand, it may inspire people to work harder to become healthier or more fit.

I think that typically girls are more under the influence of these social media celebrities rather than guys, based on what I heard from my classmates.

People only show their good sides and moments on social media, like they have the perfect life. As a result people might have pressures to be similar to each other, wear the same type of brands etc. Instagram is one of the main social media platforms where new trends tend to start. For example, when a new type of make up look is created, a lot of people tend to recreate these makeup looks. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, since it could motivate you to try new things. However in certain areas it can be a bad thing, body image, for example is one of those areas. Social media makes it seem like that there is one ideal body type, as a result people's self esteem might go down.

I do various kinds of social medias such as instagram, facebook, wechat, snapchat, and others as well. And the behavior stands out to me is posting other people's pictures without permissions. For example, many people around me post their friends pictures and make fun of them. However, they do not really care about the person in the picture, and they do not think about the picture can bring small and big issues as well. Not only friend, for my experience, a stranger posted my selfie on his instagram account and tagged me. Me, as a social media lover was really scared of it and panicked about it. Another behavior stands out to me is do not share personal information in public places. Some people do #followforfollow, however i think it is not a smart choice to do, because that makes other people (who do not really know you) to know about personal information as well.

I think social media is very positive because you could connect with people even though if they live in a different country from you.

There are different types of people out on the internet and we can't always see the person behind the screen. Depending on what your using, sometimes the feedback you get can be really honest and supportive, but other times it can be just some random person talking badly about you for no reason. Since I don't really use those kind of apps with 'Likes', I'm not really too sure about what kind of pressure you can get put into.

I think on online, all of us want to show only the good parts and positive parts of their life. Even though people have some unhappy and disappointing parts in their life, they never show that in social medias to make their life look happier and better than they think on online. Maybe, it is a common thing for all of us, however I think people who look at the posts (which show only the good parts of them) might can feel depress or they might can compare their life with the two-sided posts. For one example, my friend and i was texting during the winter break and both of us needed to go to math class. My friend said what a stupid day, it is freezing outside and I need to go to math class. However on her instagram at the same time, she posted the picture of snow and said 'I was waiting for this kind fo day for a year'. Not only my friend, I believe many people actually o the same thing as my friend to show people how their life is perfect even though it is not

As students with the use of the internet, we have the ability to discover so many people out in the world achieving such amazing accomplishments. Students are sometimes pressured into trying to strive for such greatness. The internet can make things look easy, and when we try those things ourselves we may sometimes fail. Social media is changing our perception of who we are. It's like a superficial society where we have this idea of what we think we should be, what makes us 'good' or 'bad'. When really it's just everyones own opinion has been affected by the things we see on social media today.

I use social media very frequently and often find myself reaching for my phone when I am bored. I think that there are definitely positives and negatives for using social media. Some examples of the positives are that when I see people eating healthier or working out, it pushes me to be a better version of myself, it motivates me to work harder. It also keeps me updated on the news and whats happening around the world as well as helps me stay connected to friends or family members around the world. Some negatives are it takes away from time actually being spent with people around you. Because of all the online trolls, it also makes social media a untrustworthy place.

For me, social medias are for sharing a part of my life and communicate with people. However, for some people, socila medias are for popularity and being famous, so some people post some posts only for likes (which are not really inappropriate for our ages). I understand each person's purpose of using social media is different, however is posting inappropriate things and getting many likes and attention right thing to do in public spaces (which is social medias)?
