Yes, it does. My favourite film "V for Vendetta" demands that people are not just bystanders and wait for change, they have to actively participate in their community. The film tries us to get out of our numbness and tell us - you have a right, a power. You choose.

The film is based on the novel by the British author George Orwell (1903-1950).

This novel, which was a critique of real socialism in the 1940s, is one of the masterpieces of the type of 'place' in world literature. The animals of the Animal Farm are animals. Animals living on a farm rebel against the exploiting people and take control of the farm. Their aim is to create a more egalitarian community. The most intelligent pigs; in a short time they form a leading team, they deviate the revolution from their path. Unfortunately, there has been a more oppressive, more ruthless dictatorship than people.

During Lincoln's presidency and the Civil War it was a very real concern that America wouldn't make it very long in their crazy experiment of giving every citizen a vote and doing away with dictators. Lincoln reminds you just how fragile the union was, but the scenes in the House are powerful reminders of why democracy works-- everyone wants their voice heard, and they'll shout if they have to.

On the first day of classes, students are surprised by the unorthodox teaching methods of the new English teacher John Keating, who encourages his students to make their lives extraordinary, a sentiment he summarizes with the latin expression carpe diem meaning "seize the day."
Subsequent lessons include having them take turns standing on his desk to demonstrate ways to look at life in a different way, telling them to rip out the introduction of their poetry books which explains a mathematical formula used for rating poetry, and inviting them to make up their own style of walking in a courtyard to encourage them to be individuals, to think themselves for themselves and not comply/ conform to what their parents and society think it is right. Democracy is everywhere in the movie when the teacher shows that life is short and everyone must live and think freely even if he knows that his methods are againt the severe rules of the school.

My favourite movie is Seven Sisters. Only one child is permitted in each family and the ones who have more than one child are deceived as their children will be frozen somehow and when the time comes they will be reanimated again. Actually, the children are destroyed. A father having seven daughters find a solution as if he has only one daughter. The scene in which all sisters' finger is cut because of one of the girls is very inspiring. They can't live freely and they go out everyday one by one. They don't have any friends. Moreover their names are Sunday, Monday.......like that. It is very difficult to live as if you don't live.

First of all, do not read this if you would like to see the film... I'm going to write a kind of a spoiler... sorry about it.
This film, apart from showing us the differences between the north and south of the USA in the 1960s concerning racism and inequality of individuals, also proves that this kind of things happens partly because of our ignorance.
At the beginning of the film, one of the main actors is even able to throw away some glasses because people with a different colour of skin had used them to drink in his home (some workers). However, at the end of the film, the same character invites a coloured person to have dinner with him and his family for Christmas and this guest is very well received by the rest of the family.
The film shows us that all of us no matter what colour our skin is, what sexual orientations we have, what wealth our families have... we all are equal and we all should have the same rights and should be treated equally, which I believe is a basis for democracy.
(For those who were not able to watch this film in the cinema, it's already available on Prime Video and I don't get any reward by saying it :) )

The film follows a group of blue-collar deep-core drillers sent by NASA to stop a gigantic asteroid on a collision course with Earth. When an asteroid threatens to collide with Earth, NASA honcho Dan Truman (Billy Bob Thornton) determines the only way to stop it is to drill into its surface and detonate a nuclear bomb. This leads him to renowned driller Harry Stamper (Bruce Willis), who agrees to helm the dangerous space mission provided he can bring along his own hotshot crew. Among them is the cocksure A.J. (Ben Affleck), who Harry thinks isn't good enough for his daughter (Liv Tyler), until the mission proves otherwise.
I think democratic participation was from Harry Stamper(Bruce Wills) he sacrificed himself to save the world.

One of my favourite movie is Coco. it is very good movie to show the democracy need in education and family.there is a talented boy who wants to play guitar but rejected by family but he never gives up . at the end he manages but it is his right .The other movie that I like is The Lion King,it is like the mirror of the human social and political life. there is dishonesty, tricky, breaking the ground rules of values. by democracy it can be managed to solve the problems

Gone with the Wind is a 1939 American epic historical romance film adapted from the 1936 novel by Margaret Mitchell. The film was produced by David O. Selznick of Selznick International Pictures and directed by Victor Fleming. Set in the American South against the backdrop of the American Civil War and the Reconstruction era, the film tells the story of Scarlett O'Hara, the strong-willed daughter of a Georgia plantation owner. It follows her romantic pursuit of Ashley Wilkes, who is married to his cousin, Melanie Hamilton, and her subsequent marriage to Rhett Butler. The leading roles are played by Vivien Leigh (Scarlett), Clark Gable (Rhett), Leslie Howard (Ashley), and Olivia de Havilland (Melanie).Gone with the Wind was immensely popular when first released. It became the highest-earning film made up to that point, and held the record for over a quarter of a century. When adjusted for monetary inflation, it is still the most successful film in box-office history. It was re-released periodically throughout the 20th century and became ingrained in popular culture. The film is regarded as one of the greatest films of all time; it has placed in the top ten of the American Film Institute's list of the top 100 American films since the list's inception in 1998. In 1989, the United States Library of Congress selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry.

It was interesting to realize that you've referred some of them!
I've chosen "Gone with the wind", because it was one of my favourite when I was a teenager... I found the role of Vivian Leigh impressive, from selfish to such a strong and fighter woman, who struggled to survive the war time. I think democracy is all over the movie... At the gatherings were everyone could express their opinion, the fight for freedom and for the equality of opportunities, justice and brotherhood among some of the characters... However the war scenario might be a prove that democracy has previously failled...
(Maria Goreti Alves, Portugal)

However, if a child watches "HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA", a lot of questions may change his/her whole attitude and even character. First of all, the "MONSTER" issue may become debatable: are the monsters horrible or funny, are they violent or NOT, ... Secondly, children may learn the concept of "prejudice" or even "racism". Moreover, the relationships within family are complicated and not very democratic: "father" imposes rules which can affect children's lives.

Although "Roman Holiday" is a comedy it has some more serious parts as well. In relation to the topic of democracy you coulddiscuss the role of the media between entertaining and informing the public. Another point is questioning the monarchy as a form of government, especially the fact that it means that a person is born into leadership and not elected for the job they are doing.

Kalima BASSEY
There is some democratic participation among Mr Brown'schildren; when they are asked to choose a child to go and live with the horrible aunt, they decide after making several propositions to send Evangeline, their nurse, since she'd Always wanted a good education. There's another form of democratic participation, but paradoxical; since the children were gagged by their desperate father who had no choice but to remarry within a month to continue benefiting from the financial support from the dreadful aunt, the children tacitely agreed to ruin the marriage and make the father and the nurse realize they were in love with each other.

This is a beautiful work of art in which the viewer can see the effects of the lack of democracy on the land and on the people who live there. The rule of the Red Queen has taken the whole country to a sad place where nature and the people are devastated by horrible creatures . Only the courage and the chosen participation of Alice, the Mad Hatter, the Dog and the White Rabbit to the fight to put back on the throne the White Princess will take the country (Wonderland) back to its happiness and beauty. This will cost sufferings and personal involvement, as it happens in every democratic process, and even if at the end there is another monarch, her subjects will have the rights to participate in the decision-making process they gained through their chosen participation.
