Contact Local School Districts for Multilingual Services

Every school district in the US is required to provide special education services to children with disabilities. Contact the special education department of your local school district to inquire about available services and how to enroll your child. The school you get in touch with will schedule appointments with special education therapists and prepare an IEP (Individual Education Program)for your child.

Most of the school districts have dedicated multilingual services or liaisons for immigrant families. These services may provide information and support in languages other than English and can help non-citizen parents understand their child's rights and access available services. For example you can see the website of Newark Public Schools - Multilingual Programs. Newark Public Schools' Multilingual Programs provide support and resources for immigrant families, including information on special education services. You can comment below to ask and learn about different special education programs and school districts that you recommend.
