Mississauga train derailing. A CP Rail freight train was carrying 106 cars that each carried various chemicals and explosives. In the 33rd car, heat began to build up due to an improperly lubricated journal bearing on one of its wheels. Eventually, the friction burned through the axle and bearing, causing the wheel to fall off completely. Once the wheel had fallen off, the damaged undercarriage fell off, causing the rest of the train to derail which resulted in multiple cars bursting into flames. Due to the chemicals spilling into the air, a massive explosion occured, but there was thankfully no injuries.
