         <description><![CDATA[<p>Something that stood out to me in the chapter is seeing how Mr. Washington was how he responds to conflict. When his girlfriend left him because he was Black, instead of fighting against anti-Blackness, her suppressed his culture, choosing to conform to white standards and give up on love altogether. This says a lot about who Mr. Washington is as a character and provides insight into the reaction we can expect from him later in the book when he is met with struggle.</p>]]></description>
