My understanding is that traditional life including the definition of family has been normal and correct way for human life, although it is not bug-free. It seems that modern people instead of fix traditional family’s bugs has gone to the other extreme! 
More unmarried couples raising children; more gay and lesbian couples raising children; more single women having children without a male partner to help raise them; more people living together without getting married; more mothers of young children working outside the home,…etc. are all consequences of the excesses.
