And for this leadership to be effective, a leader must realize that "effective leadership is not a solitary charge but rather a collective enterprise engaging multiple individuals (Scanlan & Theoharis, 2015). Regardless of the context in which the leader exists, they must recognize their own biases and/or privileges. This allows the leader to act as servant to facilitate change by bringing all those effected together. By utilizing servent leadership,"people's confidence is strengthened by their belief that the leader makes judgments on the basis of competence and values, rather than self-interest. (Sergiovanni, 2000) It is the combination of tranformative leadership, as shown through values that allows the community to clarify, realize and internalize social justice.

It is a process in which a person is exposed to an issue, allowed to explore and learn, which leads to clarification and ends with the person internalizing their beliefs of the issue.
