The Original Sin does not have any great significance, as it is simply one of many interpretations of the foundation of human behavior. In Genesis 3, the author(s?) state that Eve, "...saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate..." No matter the theological upbringings of a person, or their beliefs, it is a fundamental truth that humans will behave in their own unique ways in accordance with their own experiences. A plethora of explanations by both religious and secular authors describes this phenomenon, and it requires no religious basis. Although a correlation exists between the Original Sin and the actions of humanity, this does not necessarily imply that a causation exists as well. Many people take their morals from other religious texts, while still others choose not to believe in a religious work, and draw their morals from other sources. The Original Sin may have significance to large numbers of Christians, but it must be recognized that for many others, it holds no significance.

The original sin, under christian belief, is a part of every person. It represents the origin of separation from God and evil in the world. Before the apple was eaten, Adam and Eve were unaware of their nakedness, "Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked" (Genesis 3 Line 7). This is a symbol for the shift from a perfect to imperfect world. At first shame, a form of evil, didn't exist, and then after the original sin, people knew and felt the evils of the newly imperfect world. The original sin is the cause of the imperfect sinful world we live in.

After Adam and Eve consumed the fruit from the forbidden tree, they became enlightened, but were sinners. In a way, the Original Sin levels the playing ground for the human race, as we are all deemed to be born sinning, and that temptation and evils are innate for all of us; rendering them unavoidable.

The Original Sin reflects the inherently selfish nature of mankind, and its everlasting effects on all living people. God states “See, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever” (22-24). The text is implying that humans are inclined to take anything available to them, regardless of how much they already have. The importance of obedience is cloaked in the eyes of Adam and Eve, and according to Genesis, we possess the same greed and must do everything in our power to overcome our nature.

After both Adam and Eve consume the fruit, God comes and tells them that they now know of good and evil, and therefore evil is has become an intrinsic value of humankind. Evil becomes characteristic that all humans have at birth, with no reason except for sharing the guilt of the crime that Adam and Eve committed in the Garden of Eden.

This shows the significance of the Original sin because while Adam and Eve partook of the fruit on the tree and committed sin, they knew that they were also doing a vital thing for the human race. Adam and eve knew the difference between good and evil, and even though taking the fruit off of the tree was evil, it did good for the world and created life among the earth. Adam and Eve had to make a decision and both had consequences, and they chose to take the fruit of the tree, which was the original sin.

The bible uses original sin as an explanation for a humans natural desire to disobey. The human race was cursed due to the story where the first humans on earth were given a life of perfection, where they could do as they pleased. The only rule being that they could not eat from the tree of life. As they disobeyed they were forced out of the garden and all their children were born with original sin. The concept is that in order to be free of orinal sin, they must accept Jesus, who died to take away that sin.

As expressed in the Bible, the Original Sin is the result of Adam and Eve's wrongdoing and disregard of the God's supreme rule in the garden of Eden. “You may freely eat of every tree of the garden; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall die”(15) After consuming the fruit that they were precisely instructed not to, God punishes Adam and Eve. Eve is forced to populate the Earth, her offspring carrying the same fate as her. This belief then translates to the ideal that all people are born with the Original Sin and must accept Jesus as the Misah to to be free and pure.

The original sin signifies the origin of all sin- humankind's vices and misery. This one act represented that humankind has proven unworthy of God's trust, as they betrayed His full trust. His trust, a simple request that "'[The first humans] shall not eat of it'..." (Genesis 3:17) was betrayed by them. It represents the dawn of humanity's detachment from God, and all the resultant suffering on Earth, away from God's realm. All suffering and sin on Earth has been wrought of humankind's betrayal of God, and this provides the context for why exactly one should aspire to accept God's love and transcend this world to His domain.

An interesting add-on is that, even though God's trust was betrayed, He still crafted garments for Adam and Eve even as He forbade them from returning to the garden of Eden. "And the Lord God made garments of skins for the man and for his wife, and clothed them." (Genesis 3:21) This represents His love and willingness (in some form) to accept them, to give them a second chance; this is why so many choose to follow this faith, in hopes of achieving His forgiveness, so that they may enter His realm to open arms.

"Because you have done this, cursed are you among all animals, and among all wild creatures"(Line 14). The original sin created by Adam and Eve became a world wide story of how sin was first established and will now forever curse mankind. The concept of evil and sins is not believed by all, but the story itself has traveled throughout the world and created a strong belief among certain believers.

"See, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil..." (Verse 22). When Adam and Eve took an apple from a forbidden tree, this was marked as the Original Sin. This is an explanation for human's inherent tendency to disobey and sin. From this point forward, God stated that all humans will be born evil, and that they will no longer be immortal.

The significance of the Original Sin is that man will now be born with the idea of good and evil, but have the urge to do what is bad. This is shown in Genesis 3, which states "See, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever" (22). Man was not supposed to see the evil; the evil would make people greedy and constantly want to take more despite how much man already has. Because of this, a part of man will always be ready and want to commit a sin.

The significance of the Original Sin is that man was destined for greatness by Lord God, but it was all stripped away when man had betrayed Lord God and bitten into the devilish apple. “Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken. He drove out the man; and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim, and a sword flaming and turning to guard the way to the tree of life” (Genesis 3). Lord God had destined man to be knowledgeable of both the good and evil of the universe, which is something man continues to pursue today. Man has been stripped away from their drink of knowledge, and is left with an unquenchable thirst.

Genesis 3 details the significance of the Original Sin in line 22, where God states, "See, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil...". God reveals that this sin of Adam and Eve eating the forbidden fruit from the tree as representing the selfishness of mankind. As a result of this selfish act, mankind has been marked as innately flawed and destined to sin, which will be cast upon all future generations. Taking the forbidden fruit reveals that idea to mankind that actions have consequences that may be permanent, though God is still willing to love and accept his people in the face of flaws and sins.

This is shown when God creates a consequence for Eden: “thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field” and “you are dust, and to dust you shall return,” which is a punishment to Adam for eating the apple that God told him not to eat.
