Rationale for Design

I see many good things about this classroom arrangement. I want groups so students can collaborate and work in pairs evenly. I want a lot of our tasks to be discussion and teamwork. I like anchor charts, scavenger hunts, and task boxes. I want the students to have materials available to limit they're getting up. While greeting students, I want the other students to be doing morning work, minus distractions. I can notice the organization and flexible seating in this arrangement. I like the open floor for brain breaks, I feel that students should use movement to recharge. I want the students to feel safe, comfortable, and excited.

I want a small group table and I feel that it is convenient to have it attached to my desk. This will be at the front of the class so other students can do their independent work and I have a visual site of all students.

This is to maintain a safe environment. I want students to know that I see and understand them. I want my students to gain confidence and affirmations are positive thinking. When students see these things about themselves, they then share it with others.

I enjoy the lighting in this class. I like the main lights dim and focus lights around the room. Lights help calm the environment and focus the students. I can give direction as to where students should be with the light fixtures.

Music can set the tone for the room. During a brain break, we can play movement songs, and while working we can do calming tunes. Some teachers allow students to add songs to the playlist, I feel that this makes the classroom everyone's.

I believe visuals are beneficial in a classroom. This decoration should achieve the student's best behavior. I like that the schedule of the day is labeled out. I will have visuals similar to this to support the room, like finger signals for the bathroom, or water.
