Hi! My name is Eliana and I am a teacher from Cyprus. I work in a Primary School that is attended by about 270 students and there are about 20 teachers working there. In our school students are mostly of Cypriot origin, but there are also a lot of students from other countries (Britain, Bulgaria, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Palestine, etc.). A lot of children also come from mixed marriages.

I teach the 3rd grade (8 - 9 years old) Greek Language, Maths, Health Education, Science, Art and Geography.

We all live in diverse societies and every day we have to coexist, work, cooperate and communicate with people that are different from us. It is important to learn how to do this from a very young age and school is the ideal place to start, since it it is as diverse as the society of adults is. Moreover, young children haven't developed yet all the prejudices and stereotypes adult people have, so they are more acceptable to anything new.
