This teacher could use Google Forms to give quizzes; Google Forms is an excellent tool to give quizzes because “quiz items come in multiple choice, checkboxes, linear scales, grids, short answer, or long answer form”. Not only does Google Forms allow teachers to ask many different kinds of questions, but it also “will automatically grade every response that has a correct answer identified”; this allows them to use the time they would have spent grading doing more beneficial, productive activities. However, essay questions or open-ended questions can be graded manually after the auto-grading is done.

This teacher could use Slido to answer important questions that students have.

Slido allows for students to “submit questions through a regular web browser using a unique event code”. These questions then “appear on the presenter’s screen [and] can be upvoted by other participants, moving the most popular questions to the top”. The teacher can remove a question from the queue once it has been answered. Slido can also be used to poll students “with multiple choice and word cloud options”.

A somewhat similar tool to Slido that this teacher could use is ClassroomQ; ClassroomQ uses a queue system to solve the problem of how hectic the classroom can get when many different students have many different questions. This tool allows students to ask questions through their own device, and then, the “student names appear in the order they were entered” on the teacher’s device. Similar to Slido, once the teacher meets with the student and answers their question, they “click their name and it disappears, moving everyone else up in line”.

Calendly is another tool that I believe would be of great use to this teacher.

This teacher could use Calendly to easily and quickly schedule meetings with students as well as other teachers. Instead of wasting time going back and forth in emails, Calendly allows a teacher to set up timeslots and share them through a link. Then, students and other teachers can sign up for the time that works best for them; this time will disappear once it is taken to ensure that no one can double up. Calendly also “automatically switches available times to the time zone of the person viewing the schedule, so [the teacher does not] need to worry about which person’s time zone [they are] planning for”.

In order to use this LMS, the teacher must “be a user of G Suite for Education, a free suite of tools including Google Docs, Slides, and Drive”. Google Classroom “adds LMS functionality to these tools, allowing teachers to set up classes, create and grade assignments, give feedback to students, post announcements, and distribute course documents”.

Google Slides offers “tools [that] are a bit less sophisticated” than PowerPoint and Prezi, “great collaboration features, attractive templates, and a Q&A feature that allows audience members to submit live questions”. There is also a very useful app called “Remote for Slides,” which allows a user to “control [their] Google Slides presentation from any device”.
